I'll be HOME ALONE in China for Xmas. And I'm wondering where to spend it and the preceding week as well!
I can go anywhere.
Beijing isn't an option since I'll spend the next two weeks after that there with a friend.
I was thinking about the north of China - never been there really. Dalian, eventually Harbin (God I'm going to die freezing there) but Harbin's ice festival is supposed to open on January 5th so idk.
Just realized as well that I've never been to Sichuan! Actually the only places I've been to recently are Henan (going there again tomorrow)/Hebei/Hubei/Guangdong/Guangxi/HK/BJ. So I'd prefer to go somewhere else - but that's not set in stone, It's not like I know these places inside and out anyway.
Like I said I can go just about anywhere really.
Any idea/suggestion? :D

Go to Sichuan and eat delicious food. Go to Chongqing which isn't officially a part of Sichuan anymore, but yeah.

Shanghai - kinda Xmas atmosphere HK - discount/crazy shopping North China - if you like skiing and it's cheap Chengdu - the best hotpot in the world (hotpot = pure win in winter! One of my friends is coming from HK for Xmas.)

It sucks to travel alone, honestly.
Unless you manage to hit up some chicks and hit up some clubs, you won't really be able to have fun.

As an Sichuan person, I can tell you that u'd want to go to Chongqing first. A lot of restaurants, a great downtown. Chengdu is about 3 hours away by car. Chengdu has great scenery and beautiful places. But all-in-all, dont you jus want some spicy food to warm you up along with some great chinese liquor?
I think it might be pretty easy to find transportation between the two cities, although that big railway thats suppose to connect em isn't finished yet. But yeah, if you haven't been to Sichuan, you dont know spicy food.

Looks like Sichuan/Chongqing/Chengdu is winning by a huge margin and I've never been there, that's quite perfect - and I fucking LOVE hotpot as well as spicy food! Actually in France most of my friends can't even eat the stuff I cook up. LOL. So if I can get the chance to taste it right where it comes from... mmmmm...

Anyway I'm bringing my mbc hoodie AND my skt shirt AND my wemade shirt with patchs. If with that I don't get insta hit up by everyone girls and guys included then something is seriously going wrong.

That ice festival in Harbin sounds interesting, what's that like?
I'd say you're welcome to come to Changsha and celebrate it here, but well, there's not really that much going on here anyway Although, the food in Hunan can actually be even spicier or hotter than Sichuanese food, but it isn't mouth-numbing like Sichuanese food often is. From what I hear, anyway, I'm not all that big on spicy stuff myself. Sichuan sounds like a lot of fun though, enjoy

I lived in Dalian for some time and would advise you not to go there for Christmas. Not really anything going on there at all, and it was fuckin cold, some parts of the city had big problems because of frozen pipes.
Cant really talk about other places, since i only stayed in beijing and dalian for a longer time, but good luck in finding some good location. And give us a report!

I will definitely go there someday - I love winter and snow and cold weather and stuff and from the pics it looks really beautiful. Actually I thought I was going there last winter and I was really pumped up about it but my boss had Heilongjiang and Hubei mixed up so I ended up in Wuhan instead of Harbin LOL. After this incident I've sworn to myself to go there one day. :p
6:10pm boarding now, wish me yi lu shun feng, I'll keep you posted about where I decide to go and thanks for the tips! (And what's this stuff about hepatitis and hotpot? I already have a hotpot planned in Zhengzhou with some friends next week-end. :/)

That looks really awesome, thanks for the heads up and information on that. That's definitely on my list of things to do now, hope I get the chance

I think it would be a great chance to go to Chongqing.
I went there over the summer and man I regret that soooo much. Winter is probably the only time the goddamn place is habitable! However, they do have some really nice restaurants there.

I was born in Dalian; every time I go back to China, I feel that Dalian is easy the best city

Anyone been to Shaolin Temple? Is it any good? I'm working two hours away from it by bus right now so it might be a good opportunity!

It's horribly crowded and commercialized, I personally wouldn't, but some people still see value in seeing it. Personal choice I guess.
