No matter how much time I spend I feel like I can't get it perfect. And even in the rare chance that I make something perfect, I always think well what if I modified that - It might look cooler. It's basically endless for me. Btw, I don't think this kind of drawing should take that long (i'm not that familiar with photoshop - I could be wrong). Maybe you should take a break after 30 minutes or so and then come back to it. | ||

I'm getting super tired at one point, especially if the drawing is made with mouse, which is the case with this one. Anyway I dont have any sort of objectivity from one point. Thats why I post my shitty work, so you can judge it for me. There is a huge course of DVDs that I downloaded (but have yet to watch - skimmed through it) on drawing faces and people that is pretty good. When I get home I can link you it. GIL15 ps- wow 50 layers, This is why I hate photoshop. I'd rather use MSpaint. | ||

Maybe using a tablet will improve my work, at least it will make everything look smoother. But I doubt thats actually the main problem | ||

If you're not doing that, start doing it. it's not a noticeable likeness but there's some aspects to it that work. The colouring style with the clean cuts is working out well but the tones could be improved, mainly the mids and the darks. There's no reason why you should have 50 layers for the face, unless you're hyper rendering a figure. Since you're not blending the colours(nothing wrong with that, the colouring is the strongest part on the pic) you'd need maybe 3-4 layers for highlights, mids, darks. 50 is going overboard, always try to keep it simple. Keep practicing and study lots of anatomy. | ||

at this point you face a problem greater than just "her head is too big." the problem is that you don't seem to pay enough attention to whatever it is you're drawing. almost every drawing you have posted looks the same. instead of putting precedence on what it is you're looking at, you put precedence on your own style. if you're not loyal to your subjects you won't ever see them appear in your drawings. when you work for hours on your drawings, how much time do you spend comparing your subject and your drawing? in the case that you're more of a cartoonist, the above doesn't apply, and i applaud your style. it is very cute and you are quite good at coloring. | ||
