OK here we go, I finally took the time to do a blog I wanted to do since I returned from Korea over a month ago.
On the 21st of September I took off on a plane for a 2 week trip to Korea. I'm half Korean, half German (can't speak korean though )and the purpose of the trip was to visit family and obviously to enjoy this beautiful country. (A little warning right from the start: this blog will not be about progaming at all.)
The plan was to stay in Seoul for a little while and then to go to Gyeongsan, which is the place where my family lives, and from there to rent a car, and just drive north along the east coast (we eventually got to the north korean border), always close to the sea. Then before October the third we would return to Gyeongsang, to celebrate Chuseok, a big national holiday, which some like to call the Korean Thanksgiving. I'm pretty proud of the pictures I've taken, especially since I pretty much learned how to photograph with my camera on this very trip. If you like the pics you can put in some nice music and watch them all in a very nice full screen slideshow here (button at the top right) - thx to Artosis for recommending me the site.
However, I put in the effort and also put most of the ones I uploaded into this blog (I do have about 700 more on my hard drive) , so here we go, lets start with Seoul:
+ Show Spoiler [Seoul Pics] +View of Seoul out of the Hotel we stayed in The Hotel room - this is how you sleep true korean style Now that's an awesome chair Pictures from Insadong: On a rainy day On a sunny day On the way to the tower, from which you can see all of Seoul, there was a little show: From the Tower: The entrance of the love hotel my brother and I stayed at our 2nd visit :D
Pictures from Gyeongsan, including some family pics : + Show Spoiler [Gyeongsan pics] +The Market Grandma Counting the number of grandchildren that she still need to get married (turned out to be eleven ) Taekwondo Kid My uncle playing Baduk (/Go) against my brother After the loss
Now lets get to the actual road trip: + Show Spoiler [lots and lots of pictures!!] +monks on their way to the monastery A long way ahead Angry wall is angry! In korea dogs are a bit more careful.. Inside a cave Spring Catwalk Always lots of water at every temple Samcheok by night A monk's house "Whatcha lookin' at, foo' ?!" There's a hole in my stomach Near the North Korean border North Korea! Doesn't look so bad from here ^^ Walk with me Pictures taken on the great Seoraksan: At the summit of Seoraksan resides its king on his throne tricky, huh?! The Orange... Spider attack!
3 more pictures from Gyeongsang: + Show Spoiler +Go-Stop - the Poker game Koreans like to play Cheosuk
weeeee ok that took a long time to post, I hope you enjoy it. Here are some bonus pics from firms you surely know and then just more pics of my grandmother cause shes so beautiful + Show Spoiler +this: tastes about the same as this: not just a giant in starcraft... STX bigger than CJ??? That can't be right My Dad and his alter ego Grandma with her son in law The queen of Korea And that's me, hi TL. Thx for looking at my pics, I hope you enjoyed them
edit: somebody PMed me asking for a .zip file of the pictures, so I uploaded a package of jpgs I had exported on my harddrive to megaupload, it's not exactly the same selection of pictures as in this blog, may have some more of my brothers and me but most are the same
[url blocked] 600 mb though, so I still suggest you manually download them on my smugmug site http://ghostkey.smugmug.com if you like some of them.

Nice jacket/jean combo in the last pic. What brand of jacket is that?

Did you buy a seperate lens? Cuz those are close to pro quality.

No I used the pretty bad 50mm lens u get with the camera. I bought a nice sigma lens after the trip.

yeah it's tough to motivate yourself in everyday life though isnt it, I just got myself a nice sigma 17-70mm lens and I haven't even used it yet outside the apartment ^^

I either added saturation or... a term called "lebendigkeit" in german, I think the right term in english is liveliness, I don't think I did that in thaat many pictures though. I did add contrast in most of the pictures though, although in some cases I really went too far. It was my first time really doing this after all. I used lightroom 2 for all my editing.

Indeed, quite lovely.
I thank you for these pictures.

Wow, you have a talent for photography. Also, I know 2 half German, half Korean people in real life so maybe there's something to that.
|
Fucking awesome pictures.
|
Love many of the portraits - great stuff.
|
|
They look like that because of the long exposure time (30 seconds), all pictures from the east coast, dont quite remember what the name of the place was, could ask my parents though when I see them.
And yeah I'm one of the eleven.. being 21 I'd say I still have quite a bit of time ^^

Wow dude, these pictures beautiful! 5/5
