Hello teamliquid,
Before you go on a rampage about how imbalanced the fastest map is, let me just say, "I know."
Now, my topic is pretty much explanatory. As the title of this blog states, I am currently in search of a 2's partner for the new season of VGT which began yesterday if I’m correct. I have and will always be a low money player, but right now I am very much engrossed in the fastest scene. The gameplay feels very surreal, like you’re skipping the first 10 minutes of a low money game. It’s definitely a nice change for me.
I think fastest is definitely where apm does matter. Your macro is increased by a very large margin, and your micro must definitely not be lacking either. I mean, you’re building from at least 10 production facilities, even upwards of 30! And you have to tread very well with your micro, because micro mistakes can be very bad, for any enemy left undead will be doubled within seconds! Not to mention…keeping your eyes open for those dreaded storm/reaver drops!
Well…that’s just my perspective of fastest. I enjoy the map very much. Of course, there are those games where an opponent will just turtle all day long, and it will take almost thirty minutes to cleanse him from the field, but those are rare. Overall, the map is the ultimate macro map (redundant?), and I like it. And I am hoping someone who enjoys it as much as I do will be my partner!
I only ask my future partner to have these qualities…not anything impossible.
First – Please, please have over 150 apm. That’s not really hard to ask. I just find that any player with less than 100 suffer from their macro/micro, especially in a pp vs. pp situation.
Second – Please, please know how to rally. Again, this is probably another simple function that almost anyone can easily adapt to. I have just been really annoyed with how some players refuse, REFUSE to rally. Like they don’t want to take at least five seconds of their time to rally all of their production facilities…
Last but definitely not least – Talk to me. Not give me your life story, but tell me what you are going to do, and what I should do. It’s a team game, and communication is a HUGE factor! This will also apply after a game. If we lost a game, I would like to take at least a minute to try and figure out what we did wrong instead of plunging back into another game.
Please note that I am not anywhere near a PRO fastest player. I don’t know all the perks of the map, but I am very much willing to learn it. I may not have the brightest game mechanics, but I can adapt. I may not have super macro or super micro, but I can become better. Through trials we can both definitely become a good team 
Well, I guess that pretty much sums it up. If anyone is interested, PM me or just write here. I am available on east or west from 7 or sometimes 9 p.m. to about 11 p.m. on weekdays, and usually during the afternoon to late evening (maybe 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.) on the weekends. I can definitely change the schedule to accommodate your time. All times are Eastern Standard Time (EST).
If you send me a PM, I’ll definitely keep it confidential. I don’t see how playing fastest is “shameful”, but I may just have a high tolerance, haha!

I play fastest/bgh for fun on USEast a lot. I prefer either Protoss or Terran, but never got into it competitively. I think I have a really good knowledge/experience on playing on Fastest. I won't dissapoint!

Aha...well... I'm trying to be competitive in fastest. I always think that if I'm not playing to become a better player on any game (even ums!), then I'm wasting my time. Of course, I do play for fun, but I think of it as being very, very unproductive. So... if you're not willing to be a better player with me, then I'm going to have to refuse you

Why play a game type that is inherently broken? Where P > all ? and the maps are boring as hell?
I have no idea why some one would want to do that.

Unfortunaltely I have only 149 APM, so I don't meet your required qualities haha
Can you recommend any reps of fastest games? I don't think i've ever seen high level fastest play, and I'm kinda curious.

I'll play some games with you, though I don't know if I'll be able to dedicate enough time to play with you competitively. On FMP maps, though, my APM is pretty low...around 110-130 as you usually don't have to hotkey in pubs.
Also, I don't have a whole lot of experience playing 2v2s (I pub 3v3s when I play nowadays -_-).

When I mess around in fastest, I can average 240ish since it's mostly macro.
I used to play tons of fastest, top 5 VGT in quite a few seasons in 1v1. Never really got into 2v2, mostly noob parts just piss me off.

"make 1234507140951834 carriers. 1a2a3a gg" does not even work against random scrubs anyway. carriers are too late for the party, you'll be in trouble very early if you don't mass real army. by cannoning you may postpone the inevitable some, but then you're leaving your part to die and you also just beg a mass reaver drop.

Hey guys! Thanks for your comments, even the ones who criticize fastest, haha! I would have been surprised if there weren't any negative comments. It's ok, I understand what you mean. Protoss is definitely the most dominating race on the map hands down. But as I wrote earlier, it's fine with me.
@Thats_The_Spirit - Hmm...I don't consider this a recommendation, but it's the best I could find. Here's one I played a few days ago with InitialD[xXx] as my partner. He's a really good low money player, I think he was top in VAL last season? Please note that our opponents were using hacks!! Replay Also, I think I did very poor job of protecting my partner in this game, haha!
@PH - Just have what I am asking of you, which isn't much, and I'll definitely play with you.
@WheelofTime - Wow, did Christmas arrive early? Hahaha! I'm actually looking for a Protoss partner since I usually play Terran on fastest. I'll definitely PM you and see if we can set up a time for some games. Also, you read the wheel of time, that's always a huge plus in my book (hehe, book).

@everyone - my aka on VGT is abe[pain]. My team is not a fastest team. Writing that so my team leaders don't get pissed off when they find out, haha! Yes, my name is Abe. Yes, I was also Iccup.Abe, in case any of you remember or bother to make the connection. And yes, this is my first time playing on the VGT ladder, so help me out!
@jello_biafra - I have actually never been backstabbed at all since I started playing fastest last month. But I guess you would feel bored in my shoes, haha.

My computer is too ancient to play any of the latest C&C games. I wish I could, I've been playing the series since the original came out back in the 90's. Loved the series, loved the storyline, loved the acting, and I'm so glad it's coming to a close with their last one. All good things must come to an end, and their time is definitely up.

Hey, I'm a C+ terran with like 180-200 apm in 1v1 low money... never played much fastest but I'd be up to learning so far there have been better offers but I'd be willing to play some haha. Unless I missed it, did you state what timezone your time ranges are in? o_o I remember you dealt with a couple of my iccup complaints

Anyone with a decent skill level and experience knows the in's and out's of beating a good protoss player on fastest.. Only the shallow-minded say it's impossibly imbalanced.

well i'm just going by the 60% win rate for protoss in the hundreds of thousands of games played on VGT ladder. but hey, 60% is not imba...

@justiceknight - Hey Mr. Batman, hehe, I think VGT is playable on any of the public Blizzard servers so unless the other team want to play on Iccup (which I highly doubt), I think we'll have to play on east or west. And it's not a tournament, it's more of a ladder system like Iccup. I'll send you a PM for sure!

headline wats your rank on iccup? i can give you some tips on fastest especially 2v2 ppvpp, (other matchups are kinda luck based but watever). i use to play ppvpp a lot with the best (xS mafia unique etc etc) but only if you can help me with lowmoney if your up to it. but i won't have time to play the ladder with you...

I'm sorry, BabyRhino, your offer sounds very enticing, but I'm not going to screw around and give you noob advice in exchange for what you know. I am not very good at low money. I was only ranked highest at C-, and to be honest, that was extremely hard to achieve (I did have a winning record ). Bah...what you know could help me a lot!!! But I have nothing to offer, so as the saying goes, "a cat for a hat, or a hat for a cat, but nothing for nothing."

Seriously though, fastest is so much fun. It's completely detrimental to learning proper starcraft, but damn is it fun.

well i could give a few tips on some games... going over build orders, strategies, timings. save you time on figuring them out over replays. but i'm not on often, my life is too busy so we'll see, later in the week when i don't have exams.

I don't mind giving this a shot. Low money at heart yes, but like some has said here, fastest is just fun  . Usually between 180-220 apm. Random.

@Bub - Fastest is fun and enjoyable, but I want to take it up a step and try and play it competitively. Whoever is my teammate, she or he and I will be going through some very tough times. We've got an extremely tough ladder to climb, and we're going to be starting off as probably the most noob team on fastest, since we'll be both semi-new while everyone else knows how to play.
If you can stand the heat, PM me. If not, I won't think of you any less. If you do decide to take the necessary steps with me however, I prefer that you play protoss as your main race. I am a terran user on fastest and I don't think zerg is very good as a partner.

Hello everyone! I wanted to write this quick message before I go to bed.
Today, I had some very excellent games with Amnesia (first post guy). He's very talented, and he did meet my standards We did lose...a lot of our games (all because I suck horrendously), but we or at least I learned a lot, and I believe that counts much more than any win! I can't wait for what tomorrow night has in store, and the next...
I'm not saying that all the others who have asked for a game are denied, I am still very much looking forward to gaming with you. We all have our different styles, and even thought Amnesia was very awesome!! I must try out other flavors, yes? hehe.
I must say...fastest truly is quite wild, haha. I thought I had learned a lot in the few months that I've played this map, but tonight turned me into a total noob. Yay! Hahaha! I consider that a good thing.
For any of our opponents today who are reading this, thank you for playing against us, and especially for advising us on how we could have played better. Cheers!

Oh definitely! Tonight made me realize that pubs are so different from competitive fastest, especially 2v2. Scouting is so much more important and teamwork as well as communication need to be stronger than ever. I can no longer go into building two nexuses to macro'ing hard. It is all dependant on the situation and what we scout.
I had a lot of fun. We'll definitely play again, since I am more active on East than ICCUP since I BGH/fastest whenever I play Starcraft now.

Gawso. I haven't Vg'ed for the past few seasons, mostly I'm just tired of 7/8 double into quadruple proxy gates.
Yes, you can 7/8 proxies quadruple gates in fastest. A nightmare to hold off as T or Z.

You're obviously lying, because, being the creator of VGT itself, I can 100% say there hasn't been a "Gawso" in the top 5 of any of the ladders for at least the past 10 seasons. What is your VG account now?

He merely asked for my east account, and that was my east account. Tons of smurf accounts are used for VGT purposes, and that was many seasons ago.

only B level iccup player that play vgt top 5 I can think of are Stalife but hes like B+ A- level and your def not him. or dan aka ghetto... which i doubt your him either cuz i can't imagine him advertising himself but watever.
and I played on east for years before vgt made its comeback and i've never heard of a gawso. so its hardly a legit aka... and i've been an active fpm bw/sc player on east for the last 2-3 years.

That's about 5 posts now that you've failed to give your account, past and/or present. Just shows that you're all talk. Why can't you just give me the name of your account that you were "top 5" on? Even if it was a smurf account you should be able to remember it.
