I have a dream...

Starting today I have begun to eat 'healthy.' No junk food, only the good stuff. And there is a reason behind this.

Being a teenager, my face is stricken with the unsightly affliction of acne. Having a face of martian landscape is not how I wish to spend my last twilight years as a teenager. As of today, the 27th of September, I have taken action.

For one month, until the 27th of October I will eat healthy. All in aim to clear my skin, and rid myself of the horrible red, pus filled nasties.

So, I will not be eating/drinking any:

Soft Drinks
Fried foods (fries, burgers etc)
Processed foods
Foods with a large amount of sugar (donuts, lollies[candy], fairy floss, etc)
Excessive meats
Excessive dairy (absolutely no cheese, milk, ice-cream, yogurt)
White bread
Sauces, they contain a bucketload of sugar (tomato, bbq, even mayonnaise)
Jams (which I ordinarily have daily)
Packet noodles (I have like so many of these, mi goreng FTW)
Store bought juices (they are loaded with sugar)
No pasta
No white rice
No alcohol
No coffee
No cup-a-soups

You get the picture.

I admit, it will be hard. I've only started today, and already I feel the need to eat junk.

Also, it is noteworthy to note (har har) that I have no problem with weight. I'm 180cm and 60kg, and my metabolism is a hero. I can eat and stay skinny, so this is not a weight diet. This is purely to clear up my skin.

One more thing, going cold turkey just doesn't work. I've tried doing it twice, but to no avail. It was like two days before I was back on the good stuff. I will slowly wean my way off these foods, and I'll allow myself very small treats once every two-three days.

So everyday I'll try posting what I ate, a good way to keep track.

Wish me luck Team Liquid, I'll need it!

Diet has minimal affect on acne. Drinking more water, exercising, and going outside will work with thousands of times more efficiency.

I was lucky enough to have inherited acne-less skin from my mum, pretty convenient.

My cousin has been "eating healthy for his skin" for over a year now, it seems pretty difficult though.

It depends a lot on the person though. If someone stops eating certain foods, acne goes away. They start eating it again, it comes back. There's an obvious cause and effect that can't be denied.
No I'm never serious.

that's true, it does depend on the person. however there is no direct correlation between diet and acne.

OP, experimenting to see if the acne goes away with a healthy diet is a good idea, but there's a good chance that it won't make a difference, keep that in mind. the best idea is to just drink more water and eat a BALANCED diet. eating shitty food is absolutely fine if you do it occasionally. just not on a regular basis. don't take this diet to it's extreme, it'll just cause more stress that will ironically lead to more acne

where do you live and how old are you booktwo? depending on that it can be very easy to get roaccutan prescribed if you really are suffering from it. if its not that bad i wouldnt go on a diet, bad food tastes to good to be worth it lol. also 60kg at 180 id almost call that a weight problem. im the same height and lost 16 kilos because of almost a year i had to stay at a hospital. i weighed 63 when i came out and i looked anorexic.

If your acne is that bad, see a doctor. They can prescribe antibiotics and creams that will prove much more effective than a change in diet.

This doesn't sound like a very healthy plan at all. Cut out soft drinks, coffee, and ketchup, sure. But don't cut out pasta and rice and dairy. Kid, you need those for more important things than having a clean face.

You're just gonna end up worrying your parents if you do something stupid like this.

Proactive!

I get bad acne when I eat chocolate. Maybe you just have to find what food gives you bad acne. If not, do what symmenty has stated

I lost over 10 pounds by just not drinking anymore soda. Of course every now and then I have a cup or two, but not like I used to....

From experience I can say that you need BOTH to have any dent in acne.

i think that someone said this before me but i have to say that diet really has nothing to do with acne. The things that you just need to do are drink plenty of water, and make sure that you are getting enough sleep each night. Other than that, exercise and make sure that your face stays clean and you really shouldn't have a problem.

See a dermatologist for your acne. Some people are too proud but they hook you up with pills and more creams than you can count, you will be acne free and can confidently make fun of others with acne.

I dont think anyone's even mentioned this yet but simple hygiene can go a long way. Showering is obvious, but washing your face with a warm cloth during the day helps a lot too. Before you go to sleep, a warm cloth on the face is a must!
