GF is currently having a computer problem - if she types more than one key into any program (I.E., Firefox, Notepad), the program will crash. This looks like a virus / malware, but she hasn't downloaded anything suspicious (except go to some shady mp3 dling websites).
Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced anything like this?
If she opens Notepad, the first letter will come out fine. The 2nd letter will make the program freeze (and will not show on the monitor), and then the "not responding" will appear, and then the program can be Xed out.
Thanks!

Sorry, the computer problem hasn't been resolved, it seems like the "virus" (if that is what it is) will sometimes remain dormant and reactivate again, making it impossible to type in letters.
So please read the OP and ignore my 2nd post

It's because you are not using a DT35.

How about a scan for viruses/malware if you suspect that to be the problem? Until it is fixed, try Windows' on-screen keyboard. It's ultra efficient

Google for ComboFix . Run that first. That takes care of the majority of malware in one quick sweep. If that doesn't fix the problem, follow the typical scanning routines.

If you suspect malware of the likes I would get Malwarebytes the free version, it seems to do a good job and isn't one of those annoying programs that run in the backround. Also I am not sure if you can get anywhere in your browser but trendmicro.com has a very good online virus scanner that picks up anything. Other then that you could check your eventviewer for any errrors, if you do and find an error code post it and I will do my best to help you out.
