Since my friends recommended the movie to me, I thought I'd ask them to explain the movie. They couldn't, which led me to the conclusion that it's just good psuedo-intellectual bait (ooh it has subtitles and some weird artsy feel to it!). Dunno, maybe the movie really is good. My Lady Vengeance was pretty cool though. It boggles me how neither you or your friends understood the movie. It seriously was not that complicated. That's just sad.

Horrible movie. I stopped watching after about 30-45 minutes. Edit: If you want to watch some good Korean films, I personally really liked Chi Hwa Son (취화선) and Soe Pyon Je (서편제).

Intense, great photo. Story maybe a bit half-assed after all but it's an awesome movie

The twist gave the movie a good amount of notoriety, too.Screw you people who thought the twist was predictable, I didn't expect it at all and it made the movie really interesting. If a movie is made for my entertainment I won't make it harder by, you know, thinking too much.

It also basically had a little bit of everything: humor, romance, action, suspense, etc. The plot wasnt in the very least predictable yeah. Charlies opinions as always are worthless, he rates the departed a 10, while giving infernal affairs a 2, what the fuck?

Oldboy on the other hand, I didn't really enjoy it too much I didn't feel like the movie was overrated by any means, I just didn't feel like I was satisfied with it

I think expectations play a huge role in the enjoyability of a movie.

Ip Man was awesome and I also recommend the good, the bad and the weird. what part of the movie is this? i must have completely missed this. some scene in the Daesu's old friend's cafe bang you can hear someone doing a tank push TvP

People don't just randomly like movies, it's all about what movies you "think" you like and want to be associated with liking, and what expectations a person has about a movie.

A good director (with good actors) got a hold of the story and made it good.

it's just such a great idea to make a movie about someone who is conditioned all the way through. he can't even escape his "fate"... maybe some of you won't like the style because you're only accustomed to americanesque movies? (this movie is very drastic)
