I was just chilling at my computer drinking water when somehow I choked on it and couldn't do anything but spit it out.. unfortunately right on my keyboard. I quickly wiped it off (without unplugging it stupidly) hitting a bunch of keys in the process..
When I started using it again, the keys were all messed up. i.e. hitting Q would turn it into caps lock and hitting g would hit like G and 6. I thought it was simply a keyboard problem (the keyboard got some water in it after all) so I swapped out keyboards, but the same thing is happening. I tried uninstalling my keyboard drivers and rebooting, but now my computer just beeps when the keyboard is plugged in, and the keyboard is unusable. However when the keyboard is not plugged in, the computer doesn't beep. My mouse and everything else works fine..
Also I've checked the language settings and it's in English and everything. I do know that when I was cleaning it I kinda mashed keys and random windows popped up but I don't know what I could have done. Anyone have any idea what to do?

Using a permanent marker, rewrite the symbols on your keyboard to correspond with their new outputs. Then, relearn key positions based on your new configuration. It's the best and only way.

Try finding your keyboard drivers and redownloading them. Also, you might want to try cleaning your keyboard. i.e. pop out all of the keys, and clean the contacts. Maybe some water is still in there, etc.

But then I might be accused of hotkey remapping!
Anyways, my problem is identical to this guy's (who didn't get a response that I know would work...): http://www.eggheadcafe.com/conversation.aspx?messageid=31177056&threadid=31177056

Seriously, though, I really wish I could help. I would try cleaning the keyboard. I hear there are some nice guides on TL.

@ OP. There could be something wrong with the port/controller it was plugged into (short etc). If it's a USB keyboard try some different ports and if it's a PS/2 Keyboard try using a USB keyboard.

Try the keyboard in multiple computers (make sure to get drivers etc). Doesn't work? Though luck, buy a new one.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the problem.. I'm gonna just buy a PS/2 to USB converter or whatever and use that. Thanks!
And wtf @ that picture lol

I once came home after going out and puked all over my keyboard. That is not a solid plan if you want to continue using it.

I had this problem recently, it would just beep endlessly when I plugged the keyboard in but getting a new one solved the problem. I tried taking the entire thing apart and cleaning it but to no avail.
