And that's where we are today. Breaking that system hurts the people who have benefited from it. There is some real human cost, and those who seek to roll back/ repeal the ACA need to acknowledge that. If Republicans are going to use the "literally killing babies" argument on abortion, I don't see why "literally killing people" can't be argued re: healthcare.

Would you care to explain how putting peoples' healthcare in jeopardy isn't a life and death issue? If you think you're tired of it, try being someone who depends on that system to have affordable healthcare, and having an entire party of politicians that campaigned for 8 years on repealing it because Obama did it.

How many americans are killed per year by illegal immigrants and terrorists? this study claims "we calculate approximately 44789 (lol that's pretty exact for an approximate) deaths among Americans aged 18 to 64 years in 2005 associated with lack of health insurance". I'm not gonna comment on free speech or tax cuts (dunno what you're referencing) but I think making universal health care a life or death issue is on point. For a whole lot of Americans, it is.

Do you also agree with the rhetoric used in context, the “if you vote for someone who opposes the ACA you’re complicit in murder?” Or even more pointed, “you’re just like the Germans who voted for the Nazis in the 20s-30s” as was brought up just one page ago?

![]() There have actually been examples of perfectly logically sound hitler-comparisons. Even those end up not working out because invoking hitler in a discussion just doesn't work. And here the comparison isn't valid in addition to that.

It's understandable that to someone who struggles with some life-threatening disease and depends on universal health care to stay alive gets too emotionally heated arguing the subject, but it's still not an acceptable post. Well as long as we agree on that much it’s enough for me. I suppose “keep it in perspective” is the real takeaway.

Yeah it's weird how quickly people comes to an agreement over human rights issues (barring a couple who I at this point am convinced are just pedantic enough to argue against absolutely anything for any reason).

even before stories broke about the horrible treatment of these particular people the topic was deep into immigration it was still a good read. this wasn’t as likely in the old thread imo. which isn’t to say it didn’t happen. i’m just saying i do think the new thread is still promoting better posting. the honeymoon phase has lasted longer than expected for most people, i’d imagine. assuming i’m not alone in my opinion on these observations.

And the bans lead to some folks reforming their more passive aggressive posting habits. Or in my case, overtly aggressive posting habits.
