You contrived through the hardships and advanced to the next OSL.
I’m extremely happy right now, Dual is too difficult. In the past, I had been eliminated into the Courage leagues and I don’t even want to experience that again. In the next OSL, I will try my hardest from the first moment.
Your opinion on Boxer's big come-back in yours first match.
Losing the first match had a big impact on me. After breaking through Boxer’s bunker rush with lings, I thought I was going to win and relaxed too much. I played loosely and then suddenly I realized that I lost all of my Guardians as well as the expansion. The two vultures that Boxer sneaked into my main ultimately caused my loss because for the longest time, I didn’t realized that I only had two drones on gas.
Before the match, I was very nervous, but when I was ahead, I relaxed. That match was probably one of my worst matches. If I didn’t advance today, then that game would become my nightmare. Therefore, after losing against boxer, I said to myself, I must advance today.
What about your second match?
I mainly practised for the winner’s round, so after losing to Boxer, I thought I was done. Luckily, Reach helped on Luna before, and it came in handy today.
Last game?
During the previous proleagues, I’ve seen Doggi play on Forte. At that time, he went for a dual-BB and tech strategy. I figured that he would do something similar today, so I prepared lots of Mutas and lings. Although he had a lot of marines, but I eliminated them by sandwiching his troops and gain the advantage. After winning the first battle, I made drones, upgrade my base, and tried to end the game with Guardians. However, his attack was much earlier than I expected. Almost instantly, his troops were in front of my base. I anticipated a fight in the middle of the map, but my unit control was bad. Luckily, my guardians came out in time, and I thought “I can probably win this”. I intended to add in a few Ultralisks. Suddenly Doggi’s wraiths appeared. I didn’t think he would have so many. I lost my expansions, and building spores wasted a lot of my minerals. It was looking grim, so I attacked with everything I had. I gathered all of my troops and two defilers which were carefully hidden. The Dark Swarm push was successful, and by that time, I knew I had won.
Recently, you often have the advantage then lose the game.
Probably because I’m getting old, and my brain isn’t as fast as before *laugh*. I used to be decisive and quick, but recently, I find myself faltering between decisions. I used to have a defined style, but right now, I’m trying to change it a bit, so often I get confused as for what to do next. The only way out is to practise more and find my old confidence. Also, it is important not to slack off during a match. Unless your opponent has typed “gg”, any relaxation can cause you the game.
This will be the 12th OSL
I’m very happy, and I must perform better in the next OSL to prove myself to the younger gamers. What’s different in this OSL is that there are lots of new faces, so I fell somewhat lonely. Luckily this time, Boxer is with me *laugh*.
Your determinations?
Practise lots. In the past, I had always been capable of advancing to the quarter- or semi-finals, but in recent OSLs, it was difficult to even go beyond the group eliminations. I feel that I am not as good as before. This time, I will advance into the semis for sure.
Boxer's Interview:
Translated by Emlary
Q: You have made through all the preliminaries.
BoxeR: Once dumped into preliminaries, I felt extremely nervous when I stood before the starting line again. I suffered the stomachache today before the games, which might be caused by the pressure. Well I recovered right after the victory in winners' final.
During the preparation, I paid much attention on the last game(on Forte). Originally I thought even if losing the first one, I would still stand a chance to make it. I'm lucky in the first game because in fact I didn't practise a lot on Requiem.
Q: Talk about something more about the first one.
BoxeR: I did huge amount of preparation on Requiem before, however, I often lost to my opponents before I would show any more strategies. With a favorable position and good scouting I make it today. Seeing Yellow's morphing sunkens, I guess he would train more drones later. But it turns out I'm wrong, and to my surprise the bunker is crashed too easily. Then the vultures save my day. In addtion, that defense by firebats is quite critical.
Q: You seems to be the natural enemy of Doggi?
BoxeR: Maybe Doggi prepared more TvZ instead of TvT. Each of us make a mistake. I should have trained wraiths to break his tank blockage then established my own defense. Well, I make a wrong decision strategically, which leaves Doggi more time to train goliaths. Then I change my mind to the island exp. On the other hand, I take advantage of Doggi's insist on highland attacking.
Q: How about your practice?
BoxeR: Our team pay more attention on ProLeague these days. I started the training for this on Wed, but there is a thought on my mind "If I fail to make it into OSL, just focus on ProLeague".
Q: Is it tough to struggle from Challenge preliminary?
BoxeR: It made me practise more. Well, once or twice might helpful. I don't want it any more. It's really hard both physically and mentally. You see, I lose much weight recently. It's like 60kg, which I had only during the period of being in Team IS. Yes, I work as hard as I used to at that time.
Q: Next will be your 12nd OSL.
BoxeR: I didn't remember it. 12? I intend to gain at least top 3. No more Dual, it's tough like the hell.
