Alright enough of my rage it has ended. I must say one more thing. Play the game to have fun, Learn, and crush your enemies don't think you are better than anyone and you will become a stronger person for it.

I understand some people are afraid to ladder, but others want to proudly display their blood, sweat, and tears even if they aren't that good. oh my god i totally feel you bro! i was finally able to touch D+ with like a 20-18 record a couple seasons ago and it felt so achieving knowing that i was actually getting better and seeing my improvement/winloss ratio from the seasons previously

Most people who play SC2 are in lower leagues, and Blizzard has to cater to their desires also. It just seems like the majority is against this change, because a lot of the people who aren't against it don't post on starcraft forums. I'm thinking lately about the Super Smash Brothers competitive scene, which was pretty popular at my college. I think part of the reason this game's e-sports scene took off (to the extent that it did, anyway) was because of how casual-friendly it was. Even though the competitive scene was Fox Only, No Items, Final Destination, I don't think the game would've done nearly as well without all the random items, crazy levels, and easy-to-learn gameplay. Because the game was so casual friendly, a lot of people played it. Because a lot of people played it, it was easy to get an audience. Because there was an audience, there was a scene. I wonder if Blizzard is trying for a less extreme version of that. We know they want an e-sports scene for SC2 (not just because they say so, but because there's a lot of money to be made and they know it), so maybe they're doing these casual-friendly things to build an audience. It's pretty damn counter-intuitive to think that making the game as good for e-sports as possible is bad for e-sports, but there's a lot of truth to it, anyway. If casuals are turned away from the game, then it won't be able to grow in the west.

Most of my friends dont 1v1 ladder like us pr0s cause they dont want to tank their record. Now you can play and fail, and no one will know unless you have a creepy SC stalker friend who looks at your match history.

I think I've won 90% of those games, and I honestly have seen stronger pushes from plat T's and P's than what I've been getting from these low Diamonds. Hopefully these low diamonds get demoted to plat later on, while the stronger plats get promoted up. They have to reset masters because they found a good portion of these "master" players suddenly become inactive after getting promoted into masters. So they can keep talking about how they are in masters league yet don't play that bracket anymore. I'm starting to think Blizzard is intentionally hiding information to cover up how broken the ladder really is.

Your ladder ranking is a far more accurate, although still imperfect, gauge of skill than W/L record. I agree with removing losses, as it is misleading to new players who think that W/L actually has some bearing on skill.

In all seriousness, I think the amount of trolling and elitist crap on the Blizzard main forums definitely played a part in the decision. I think it's antiquated information that's just not relevant to players when they're trying to get better outside of Master's league.

its so strange to find people saying that they could remove losses because it doesnt change how you play. did the existence of it ever change my play? hm, no. and that they should have added all matchups stats. even monkeys know they have to add it to their game.

Maybe they won't actually show MMR (as they said they wouldn't at Blizzcon) but what statistics could they show that would be related to your skill level if not MMR, uncertainty, or moving average? Maybe they'll make a hyped-up statistic like a "Power Rank" that kind of shows your relative position within your league, maybe like a progress bar or something.

Everything they have done so far has been in the opposite direction. If they do anything to show your absolute skill level it will show everyone how little your points have to do with it, and it will probably piss people off even more. "I'm the best in my division, but I'm only ranked 30. It's unfair!". On the other hand, I hope they finally realise how much people want to be able to see their progress.

"I'm the best in my division, but I'm only ranked 30. It's unfair!". On the other hand, I hope they finally realise how much people want to be able to see their progress. My prediction is that they'll have some kind of graphical skill indicator that would look something like this: [Bronze Icon] ----------------------------------- * ----- [Silver Icon] Something like that would convey progress and relative position without the potential confusion of a progress bar (because progress bars generally only move upward), which would make it understandable to the user why his marker is moving back and forth. This would be based on the moving average of the MMR which would make it an accurate measure of promotion. I don't think they're going to show any actual numbers. I think they want the focus to be on points. I also don't know whether they would show anything like this for other players, it would probably be only for you.
