I am not sure if this is normal, but I feel that this might have something to do with the issue. While in game with FLME running I avg 40 fps. this kind of hiccup and lag spike would be VERY noticeable in game. I have slammed down the resolution and the settings and even switched out the card to a Nvidia GTX 275. none of which makes a damn bit of difference. Also I can stream 720 camera feeds all day with not a single issue. So bandwidth would be out of the question.
Lol idk, I will continue battling this hooker and will get back with any solutions. Thanks for the input!
i think its personal preference mostly, but 20 fps is more than enough and seems to be the standard for user streams. 30 fps might be the most i would even consider going. remember, people are just watching your stream, not playing, so they don't need super fast response times or super high FPS.
as for the bit rate spikes, that's supposed to happen, there will be times where nothing will be moving on the screen, so its essentially a still image + voice. then when you're actually streaming movement you'll get spikes. unfortunately, i don't know how you can change settings in the x264 codec besides what you get to see in FMLE.

Change your FME FPS to 20, and then on ustream, change it to 20. This will allow your precious 500kbps to go into quality rather than more frames. At the very least, make the two frame rates correspond.
Thanks for the help, unfortunately the issue remains, only now it only captures the very upper left corner of the screen very zoomed in instead of following the cursor. What I changed: Changed all framerates to 20. Checked "Track screen" Unchecked "Track mouse" Unchecked "Optimize screen capture" Current setting, including VHRscrCap: + Show Spoiler +Any more ideas? This is incredibly frustrating since I'm unsure what half the settings do
I'm having the exact same problem and it's driving me INSANE! I've done everything proposed so far, and the input on VHCapture and the input/output on FME look normal. It's ONLY the UStream window that is showing the tiny portion of the screen. Any ideas?

I hate stereo mix so much. I have it enabled in the Windows 7 sound options. It's not muted. It's set as the default device. In the "listen" tab, it's set to playback through my audio source (Realtek Digital Output). All the levels are set correctly. It should be working, but it's not. It's not picking up anything from digital audio output. The stereo mix levels don't move and I don't get any sound on my stream.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Is it because I'm using a digital output for my sound, and maybe stereo mix can only pickup analogue sounds?

Ok I've managed to sort out every problem I have except for 1. After I got Stereo mix to work my mic stopped working. It's still the default communication device, I haven't tinkered with it at all, it's just literally as soon as Stereo mix started working my mic stopped. Any idea on what the problem could be?

Ok so I figured this out. Stereo mix can't be used with digital audio. I had to plug my headphones into my onboard audio and use it as analogue speakers to get stereo mix working. So now I have a stable stream with audio on justin.tv, which is awesome. But I'd like to get it working on ustream instead.
Did anyone ever find a fix for the ustream broadcaster not picking up FME 2.5 command line?

You probably have to use virtual audio cable and combine stereo mix and your mic into 1 input, then use that input in FME.

Can I handle streaming with it?
kind regards
As a general rule I'd say you need at least a 3 core processor. 1 for streaming and 2 for starcraft. But really, you can stream at low quality with low quality settings in starcraft on just about anything. Watch out for overheating though on a laptop!
P.S. If anyone wants me to add/change anything on the OP just send a PM. I don't check this thread much anymore :o

hello, i'm sorry to bump this but I was wondering how I can make Broodwar fit on my youtube screen? I've been casting some games but starcraft screen is getting cut off. I'm using VH capture and i'm recording it directly onto youtube

I'm having some strange issues with ustream. I'm using VH screen capture and FMLE 3.1. Using Ustream producer everything is fine, I can stream fine on livestream too so I don't think its a bandwidth issue. When I try to use FMLE at a low or high bit rate, medium resolution to low resolution, etc. my stream is extremely choppy unless I open up ustream and watch my own stream while I'm streaming.
I have VH and FMLE at the same framerate, I have tried playing with the main key frame setting from 3-10 seconds, 3.1-4.0 etc.
As per day9, I have FMLE running on cores 0-3, sc2 running on cores 4-5, and VH on 6-7.
My specs are i7 950@ 4ghz, 6gb ram, 18mb down/1.5mb up. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend me a soundcard where stereo-mix (or the brand equivalent) works without problems in windows 7? My audigy only has this option when installing old vista drivers and apparently they have the habit of auto updating (which could probably be disabled somehow). I would still prefer a clean solution over such tricks.

almost ALL motherboards come with onboard audio, usually something from realtek. i would suggest just getting those drivers and enabling your onboard audio chipset.

Thank you very much - I solved the audio problems.
I do have another problem though. When I record SC2 (following the whole tutorial), my SC2 framerate stays at a stable 60 FPS however there is still some noticable jerking when units move and I have no clue what that causes (it even happens if I really reduce the quality of the recording and the stream to absolute low values), and given that I am at stable 60 FPS I have no clue what causes this, it totally makes no sense, CPU load isn't nearly maxed out either.
It not like it is lagging or I have low frames or anything just that the units seem to "jump" in between the frames

Just installed VH Capture and got everything up and running, however I have no video or audio compressor options. My mic and webcam are installed correctly and I have the k-like codec pack installed as well, is there anything else I need to do?

I made a separate thread about this, but no one seemed to answer yet. Anyway, I've set up ustream with the camtasia/amfl method. Everything works fine while streaming except the audio, which is loud and lame. I recorded a youtube video which was fine, just broodwar seems to be poor quality.. any ideas?

im getting no video on AFMLE, any help please

Try unticking track screen and just type your screen resolution in width and height boxes.

Hello, okay so my screen capture and FME 3.2 all work great, the only problem is, I don't understand what I type in FMS URL and Stream.
I tried opening that file up under advanced settings, but it just says that file can't be opened. But if I start up ustream my video is there, but it's way too small and the whole screen doesn't show up, I have to then make it 300x200 and that's too tiny...
and this is what I get in my ustream window
And it's bugging me, any help would be really appreciated.

Open it in wordpad. Just copy the info from wordpad into the boxes in FME.

You DL and SAVE the XML from ustream. then File > Open Profile in FMLE.
it'll fill in the FMS URL and stuff for you. then you setup your FMLE settings.
