I will start by trying to play much less.
If you love something then it cannot possibly be a waste of time...
I used to play a lot of SC and was quite a good player by Australian community standards. Never the best, but I could pull off a win here and there ....
I came to the same conclusion as you.... Why waste time on something that gives no reward?
So, I studied, did a degree, finished it, found employment, earn good money and guess what? Am I happier? No.
There are VERY few things in life that CAN make us happy. Be glad that you found the thing that makes YOU happy...
If you think that you're playing just because it's a self-serving/self-feeding habit then, by all means, stop. But, if you genuinelly enjoy the game then don't worry. THE GRASS IS NOT GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!

glad this got bumped, i was wondering what you mean by bw is fucking up your life?

RIP IT OUT LIKE ITS' CANCER!
do wat u need to do life > starcraft
unless ur life = starcraft... then i cannot help u... no1 can
|
Do you still have a goal you want to achieve in bw? If yes, go for it. If not, just play less.

I'm sorry but this piece of anecdotal advice is some of the worst I've ever read

If ruining your life constitutes poor academica preformance, poor health, or avoiding responsiblities then quiting is good.
If ruining you life means, holding you back from getting laid because you don't go to every bullshit party and bang every slut that you can, then quiting is bad.
I hope you find your center ret!

I'm going to go the complete opposite direction and advise you to quit.
In the long run, you know the reward isn't there and it's not sustainable. You can continue to play/appreciate the game without it affecting your life to such a degree that other areas suffer.
School/Work, health, social relationships and, hell, other interests, can and will develop to fill the gap. And I think you'll come to realise that they are just as important as, probably more so than, your love for this game.
We've seen you quit and return numerous times... time to let it go.

I would hate to hear that you've kept yourself from doing other things you want to do by playing too much starcraft, but for purely selfish reasons, I was still very happy to see your stream up just now. Good luck finding a balance between sc and everything else! (Sorry for the kind of late bump.)

I really see where you're coming from. I have been playing SC alot as well and I guess it's maybe even worse because I'm still only C high Terran.
Also you play quite alot of TvZ and that can be a very draining matchup, since there's so much multi-tasking and speed requiered. Personally I feel really drained after a long TvZ and even TvP.
I have a theory that tosses have it easier when it comes to massgaming, simply because they don't need as much apm and mechanics/micro as Terran (and maybe zerg). That's perhaps why we see so many protoss users on ICCUP/Mogulus etc, because they can actually win although they suck, and don't get tired after 2 games. Also protoss is more sim city and Terran more guitar hero, to illustrate my point with a bad comparison.
No wonder Artosis, Idra who both play Terran get really fucking upset when loosing, because you really pour everything into terran and then you can loose really easily due to minimal mis-micro because you constantly need to micro all your friggin units and stuff. Protoss can just move around with their zealots and dragoons, same for zerg with lings, hydra, muta. Not to mention lurkers that stay hidden and rape marines. Not much micro needed there.
Marines stim, vultures lay mines, tank siege/unsiege + you need goliaths/turrets for anti-air. So much more small stuff to sweat as terran, which can make your frustration immense when loosing to some basic protoss rush or just getting mauled by a protoss who goes 1a2a3a.

Take a break and come back for SC2.
That is all.
