Kind of a simple one that I'm sure someone else has thought of, but here goes.
1)TSL2 can't happen because there aren't any sponsors. No sponsors = no money = no players.
2)SC2GG starleague was a fun community tournament. Then just 400 dollars of prize money was added, and it brought out all the top players in a matter of days.
3)Just 400 dollars, most of which was apparently donated by the SC2GG staff.
4)People on TL really want to see TSL2
5)People on TL would probably spare 1 - 25 dollars to see it happen.
6)The rest is obvious... set up a TSL2 donation paypal account, let people donate, I'm sure at least 1000$ total in prize money could be raised. It might not be enough to match the 10K TSL1 had, but hey, if it brings the top foreigners out, it brings them out. And who knows how much longer we'll have, with SC2 around the corner, to get in more foreigner SCBW events.
Thoughts?

Mods/Staff members have already stated multiple times that TSL2 won't happen because of the time commitment required, NOT because of money/sponsorship issues.
Which sucks cause I'd love to have a TSL2.
Maybe volunteer work instead of money?
|
I missed the first TSL, but from what i understand it was awesome. I would like to see another one. I like your idea.
But i'm just a noob so i don't know the circumstances that well.
EDIT: ^Ok now i understand.

Maybe take some of the $ to pay staff for their aid? 10%?
That can ease the time committment...

I think TSL only works when you have a core group of very talented staff who work well together; most people wouldn't be able to get in on helping out...

I blame the economy. When in doubt, blame random world issues.

Kennigit alluded to this before in his inside MIR post.
The reason there hasn't been a TSL2 isn't because of lack of sponsors - we get offers on a fairly consistent basis - but because the staff are busy with school/work/whatever else so it simply hasn't been a good time.

Pretty big assumption you got going there

I swear I saw Kennigit make a post somewhere to that effect... it wasn't an assumption. I apparently missed the MIR thread reference though.

no sponsors?
I'm pretty sure we have sponsors willing to invest in TSL2. Money is not the only thing needed for something as big as another TSL. It takes a lot of work.
My guess is TSL2 will happen before Starcraft2 beta

well.. I doubt it, unless TSL2 happens in the next 2-3 weeks.
|
I hope that TL can at least have another TSL even if we have to wait for SC2.

It's our only hope. All the staff are going to be playing the sc2 beta, even the ones who disliked it.

I had missed this for some reason - have you guys considered picking up more staff? There's hardly a lack of volunteers in this community!
