Her coach and/or his staff however should certainly check it every time the banned list is updated.
And yes it is very likely this has been systematically used to 'cheat' by Russian athletes and was most certainly not used for an actual ailment.

Doesn't do anything that it was supposedly prescribed for. Doesn't do anything that it was supposedly banned by the ITF for. Doesn't do anything, apparently, but isn't legally sold in the US or Europe. Sounds like an editorial writer found an amateur doctor who would give the juiciest opinions. She probably was taking the drug for performance enhancement, but this article is just laughably bad. Other possibility is that it's a Russian company pushing it hard, and doctors are overprescribing it to get kickbacks, despite it being a placebo.

Yeah, so I said, it's either a quack drug, or you're posting quack articles by quack doctors. Looks like it's the latter.

no, it looks like lots of Russians are cheating. sry guy but i'll take an NY Times published opinion backed by facts over your opinion. Corruption proliferates thoughout Russian sports http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-3399177/Dick-Pound-claims-IAAF-corruption-embedded-organisation-second-report-Lord-Coe-suffers-blow.html its too bad because russia produces the most exciting hockey players in the world. basically , Sharapova is full of shit and she is cheating in a premeditated, calculated way. Lots of Russians use this stuff... and its banned. .. if she were 16 i might buy some of her bullshit that she just follows orders.

That's not remotely under contention unless you're naive. Doesn't mean every editorial piece has to be true, though. Especially not quack doctors saying a banned drug doesn't do anything it's banned or even prescribed for.

even though the Star is left wing they stick to the facts even in the most politically contentious issues. when it comes to sports they are as milktoast and middle of the road as it gets. also., because they are not owned by the Bell/Rogers media oligopoly you actually get real independent viewpoints on sports issues. when it comes to sports i trust the star more than any other Canadian news outlet owned by Rogers or Bell. just ask James Reimer's mom... she'll tell you how great the star is. so i don't think either article is a "quack article".
