Hey guys, A lot of ppl seem to enjoy the commentaries and this has got me motivated to try and cast live with the games.
I've set up a shoutcast server and tested it out today using winamp.
Here is the IP to connect to in Winamp
http://s1.viastreaming.net:7080/listen.pls
okay it's putting in a stupid smiley instead of the colon
so thats s1.viastreaming.net COLON 7080/listen.pls
It has a max limit of 50 concurrant users. See you at 6:30 pm kor time tomorrow!
Hope this works

Good Idea, but I'd rather listen to more of an established team base (if that made sense). and I don't want to waste your bandwith
and I understand some Korean, so I'd rather listen to them.
But good job on taking the inititative.

that's fine. I just want to try this out and see how it works. I've actually got a proper server now.. it's pretty cheap and has a limit of 50 users so i'm gonna try casting on that tomorrow
here is the IP for those that wanna listen.

You will need winamp and to put it in that. There will still be a bit of delay depending on where you are and your connection speed. Ppl in europe will prolly get less of a delay. But this is a pro server so it will probably be as good as it can get. WIll be intersting to see how it works out tomorrow.

it'd be great to have a live broadcast by you, but to be honest you really do need to resources to be able to do something like that. and if it's not going to be in sync with the video and at least somewhat reliable in concerns with a smooth audio stream then there's not much point in doing it imo. what you're doing now is bloody good and i'm loving what i've seen from you so far. that being said, i'll try and get in one of the ten spots tomorrow and give you some more feedback. cheers
PS i'm in australia

np i've got a proper server now. There will prolly still be some delay, but i'll test it out tomorrow and see how it works and go from there.

I'm definitely gonna try to make it tomorrow... Good luck!!!

Wooah, thanks a lot. I'll try to get in time. If not, someone record this ?

the problem with live shoutcasts is that not all the streams are even in sync at sc2.org, they've been off by minutes or more before
|
Yeah yesterday ours was off by 5 seconds or so.

yes absolutely. There will prolly be a delay of a minute depending on location and other things. THat's why shoutcasts have traditionally functioned for games that cannot be watched live. It's more radio than tv commentary. So i'm just gonna test it out and see how it works
|
Oh God, that's at 4am where I live TT
Will it be available for download after?
|
Klaz, I would direct it to european viewers.
Starleague starts around 2AM (I think) and ends about 6 where I live. So unless you are unemployed, or have the weirdest shifts ever, a lot of people dont get to watch it live.
I've only watched it live twice on a weekday :D

I hope the synchronization won't be a problem.
