Recall is one of the strongest special ability of the Protoss. If you are a Protoss you use this ability several times in a day but have you ever think how recall works? I have just finished some experiment about recall and I am going to share it with you. My main goal was determinate the size of a Recall spell. To make it I put some units in a box and I recall them. This is my box:
To obtain the correct size I used this image tracked down by Liquipedia
Then i make a Recall at the center of the box and this is what happened.
Making counts we can see that recall has a matrix of 138X133 Width X Height. Another experiment is this:
In this one we can see that arbiter was able to recall a 138 Width of Zealots but only 128 Widht of Dragoons. This simply means that a unit has to be totally under the recall zone to be recalled.
Final note: Does not count the positions of unit before recall because after recall all positions will be mixed.

cool, however I don't make a perfect box when I recall. And how many zealots and dragoons were in this recall without me having to count all the zealots in this image?
|
i end up with 142x134 for the recall range

22 zealots. Seriously you can't even count to 22? Lol Americans.

how the heck should one find that out without counting them

hmmm, i have always wondered how to maximize my recalls but i never take the time to line up units like that. I just right click all the units in the center and then senect teh middle unit to recall the cluster.

he did the recall, not me.

There aren't many situations where I value getting the biggest possible recall over going back to my base and macroing up some more. I guess this is useful for people with spare apm and should definitely go in liquipedia because it's good information about recall but I think generally the extra zealot or two isn't worth the time arranging units.

Isn't there also a max number of units that can be recalled? I'm not sure, but I think if you stack a lot of probes together, not all of them would get recalled.

The max is 200 i think, but im pretty sure it goes by area not by number of units.

It in fact does go by area - if there are too many units recalled to fit in the however big area on the arbiter's side, they won't all go through.

maybe you can recall 600 units if you mc the other races and stack air units, etc.
practically speaking, you dont have time to really gather your units into a nice neat group.
|
if u can recall 600 units pheraps you should consider try to attack the enemy an hour earlier

great input...hopefully we can all get those holy-shit-bisu-RECALLLLLLL done now

uhh, you edited your post just as I quoted it or something.

Stacked units unstack when recalled.

Not sure about stacked tanks though.
