[OSL] Bacchus OSL 2009 Ro16 Day 6

EffOrt (5-0) 1 - 3 (1-4) Flash

Discounting single losses in Bo3, EffOrt is basically undefeated in ZvT this year. Flash on the other hand has dropped his last 4 TvZ games, not to mention a loss to Kwanro last night in the MSL. Despite the 1-3 head to head statistic, the 3 losses that EffOrt took were prior to the start of this year. This game will also be the first game between top S level Korean progamers on this map. The original Holy World had a 5-4 record TvZ.

Both EffOrt and Flash played a game against the opposing race yesterday, so they have definitely been practicing all week for this exact match up.

EffOrt must win this game to have a chance to advance to the Ro8. If he wins, there will be a 3 way tiebreak between Jaedong, EffOrt, and YellOw[ArnC] for the two spots to the Ro8. Flash is out no matter what.

Stork (3-2) 7-3 (4-1) fantasy

After fantasy lost 2-3 to Stork in the Incruit 2008 OSL finals, these two haven't met until now. Stork's recent PvT has been a mixed bag, dropping games against MVP and Shine, but winning against Flash, Sea, and Lomo. However, Stork did not play in Khan's lineup for Proleague this week, no doubt to let him prepare for this match. fantasy, on the other hand, has been doing spectacularly against Protoss lately, only dropping a game to Bisu last night due to ineffective drop play. fantasy's drop play has a good chance of working on Outsider though.

If fantasy wins this, he and type-b will advance. If Stork wins this, it will be a 3 way tie between fantasy, type-b, and Stork for the two spots to the Ro8.

go.go (3-2) 0-2 (3-2) Hwasin

Despite his 3-2 stats, go.go lost his two most recent TvTs. Then again, they were against Flash and fantasy. go.go's schedule this week has also been busy, with games against Guemchi and SaviOr. Hwasin hasn't played a game since the 1st of July, 10 days ago, so he probably has been practicing quite a bit. He's posted wins against Lomo, HiyA, and Baby, and posting losses against FBH and Light, who are both exceptional TvT players.

If go.go wins, he and ZerO will advance to the Ro8 out of this group and Bisu will be eliminated (Now no more of this please T_T). If Hwasin wins, it will be a 3 way tie between go.go, Hwasin, and Bisu for the 2nd spot out of this group.

Canata (4-1) 1-0 (1-4) by.hero

Canata has been posting wins against semi-decent Zergs lately, knocking SaviOr out of the MSL and beating Kwanro and HoGiL (for whatever beating HoGiL is worth). hero's last win against Terran was against SaiR in the GOM Classic 3, but he did knock Hwasin out of the Batoo OSL, so he does have potential. However, that potential hasn't been showing itself this season with losses against PianO, go.go, Light, and Leta.

Another important factor is that Canata hasn't had too much time to practice for this match since he just played a match yesterday against PianO and won. However, he did do a fairly cheesey build, so he might have diverted much of his practice for the OSL. hero hasn't played a game since the third.

The map, Return of the King, is fairly balanced with a slight edge towards Terran, but hero did knock Hwasin out of the OSL on this map with impressive 2 hatch mutalisk play.

Whoever wins this game advances with Leta to the Ro8 so this game is a must win for both players.

EffOrt < Holy World SE > Flash

My bet is on Flash playing too greedy again and EffOrt taking advantage of it... again. This recent shift of Flash back to these super greedy builds reminds me of his 14 CC period.

Stork < Outsider > fantasy

The map favors fantasy's style, and I bet he's out for revenge for his 2-3 loss against Stork in last year's OSL. Plus, he has BeSt to practice against (Bisu is out since he's playing him in the MSL). Who does Stork have? firebathero?

go.go < Heartbreak Ridge > Hwasin

Followers of the Church of go.go! Your time is nigh. Let Hwasin smash your frail religion into many pieces! His TvT is top notch, and his might cannot be matched! Plus he has a bigger fanclub than the Church of go.go has followers. go.go has been playing like crap recently anyway. 1-4 in his last 5 games, and 3-7 in his last 10.

Canata < Return of the King > by.hero

I'm starting to like Canata more now because he's starting to think about how people don't want to watch 1 hour long TvTs (see the interview thread on his win last night in the MSL). Return of the King is also a suitable map for mech, and since he isn't greedy like Flash, I think he'll do fine.
