Don’t have a professional team or your manager disappeared with your salaries again? Be successful like Ko ‘Hyun’ Seok Hyun, who won more than $16.000 in online-tournaments in just a year and was backed by the Starcraft-community when being robbed just a month ago. May he enjoy his 26th birthday today.
Hyun is a professional zerg-gamer for more than eight years now. Back in Korea he played Broodwar for KeSPA and MBCGame HERO but never stood out to make notable individual achievements. At the end of his Broodwar-career, statisticians noted 89 wins and 110 losses, Ro24 being the best effort in individual leagues.
Starcraft 2 proved to be the game better suited for Hyun. He switched games very early for a KeSPA-player in late 2011 and joined the non-KeSPA-team Team SCV Life. Within a month he made it to GSL Code A but a promising talent called TaeJa kicked him out of the league immediately. For quite some time, South-Korea Hyun did not return to offline events. Apart from his appearance in Dreamhack Stockholm he focused on online tournaments. “I wasn’t in an overseas team, so i didn’t get many opportunities to play in big tournaments”, he says, since Team SCV Life could not afford to send Hyun around the world.
But that almost did not affect his income. Up to now he played in 19 Zotac- and Go4SC2-Monthly-Finals earning almost $9.000. “For a few months it was hard adjusting to the ping i had to EU- and NA-server”, he explains. But as time progressed he to used to it. But he played korean online events too: In June 2012 Hyun won IPL Fight Club for the first time and started a streak of 14-0 in the following weeks, earning him another $7.000 before being knocked out by Leenock.

"Cancerous" sounds a little harsh. Why the hate?

Hyun is the man and what happened to him sucks. Nice that the community is helping him out. Special thanks to Golden.

Anyway, what this guy said: Hyun is a great guy and a phenomenal player. Hope he gets picked up by a big team soon. It's doubtful, but it can very much happen with a player of his caliber.

Well i write articles for a living, so i need some advertisement. Sorry if that bothers you, but thumbs up that you comment on the content of the article too.

I'm pretty sure your thread will be closed, or at least that moderation will ask you to detail your post more, it's just that usually these purely promotional posts are not accepted on the site so that's why you're seeing some hostility.

There is a teaser... but i get your point, next time i will provide a bigger preview. And i just expand this preview.

I mean it's cool you write about SC2 but you have to understand TL cannot just allow anyone to post all sorts of self advertisements on their site for free.
How would you feel if people spam the comment section on your site with links to their articles and products ?

If that would lead to the point that my site became the biggest newssite of the community and attract other users who just visit my site for these "news/advertisements" but otherwise wouldn't be on my site, i'd be happy. Reddit for example is succesful because of this model.
Don't get me wrong, i get the picture, which is why i expanded the teaser so it's not like "Wow, look a this <readmore>". I don't think it is doing any harm to Teamliquid this way.

This article is fine with the expanded teaser. Thx for the article.
