I am angry. But not angry at any entity, but angry that we can not see eSports globalized just yet. Hate-filled manifestos and rants will do nothing but make a circle-jerk. Instead, what I am trying to do with this thread is contain my anger for this entity or that entity and give a constructive idea that can help everyone on the planet, I feel. So, feel free to chip in, respectfully disagree, or otherwise give your thoughts here.
There's no dodging this one, so I will just be direct about it. Starcraft 2 is not dead in China. This photo proves it, look inside the red boxes:

a relative comparison between WCS Season 1 finals and WCG Wild Cards.
The most important question on everybody's mind: Why did the Chinese / Taiwanese / Phillippino / other south-east Asian players not compete in the WCS KR?
+ Show Spoiler +
Because in order for someone to compete in WCS Korea, they had to actually be in Korea at the GSL in person to compete.
So, why didn't they compete on the EU server? The distance between Asia and NA is greater than that of EU and SEA / CN / TW / KR, why didn't they just compete on EU?
+ Show Spoiler +
The TL;DR version of the answer is that even though the EU server is geographically closer to Asia as a whole, NA still gives players from the far east less lag. iG.XiGua, the Chinese zerg pro tried this in the WCS EU qualifiers season 1 but never managed to actually qualify for WCS EU Season 1 (finishing at Ro8 in qualifiers at best). At some points he told me his ping was regularly at 500ms.
What can be done, then, to accommodate this year's most neglected regions for SC2?
+ Show Spoiler +
Honestly, one would think that opening up a fourth, somewhat more flexible region would be a smarter decision. This region would ideally be a hub for AUS/ NZ/ CN/ TW and every other country within relative geographic proximity to those regions.
China or Taiwan, Hell even Hong Kong would be ideal for the offline finals of that region because Hong Kong has virtually no visa requirements for simply entering the former British territory. The only real problem with Hong Kong is everything there is super-expensive. Taiwan would be acceptable too. TW and HK are extremely flexible with immigration when it comes to tourists, the only real problem with these two regions is that if players from Mainland China want to go to those locales, they will need to apply for visas to compete.

Why did you bring up BWC 2014?
+ Show Spoiler +
BWC 2012 was held in China. Nobody (in terms of players) had trouble getting visas to go to the live event, but one or two players suffered food poisoning and could not compete the next day.
Good suggestions from various posters in this thread.
