Presentation Streams Players Groups Predictions Polls
The French Qualifiers ended in a surprising fashion with MiNiMaTh winning over NeOAnGeL. Dayshi, Millenium's new recruit didn't live up to the expectation but I think he is still the best non-Stephano french SC2 players. Adelscott failed once again to perform and his career may be at its dusk. CENSURE et KleeneX reached the semi-finals confirming their place in the amateur scene.
But now is the time for the big guns to appear, although MLG's players list is ridiculously good - it's an MLG after all - most of the players here qualified in their home country to have their travel expenses paid. A good portion of the EU scene is present this year with 2 Korean guests : Squirtle and ForGG. The former was supposed to win the IeSF but didn't even reached the finals losing a PvP against a foreigner but the latter won against Stephano and barely lost again the at-time-on-a-roll TaeJa in DH Valencia. Last year winner and homecrowd favorite Stephano is present and ready to take back his crown. The first day will be quiet like a normal EU Open tournament (except it's an qualified + invites this time) but you can expect some upset as some groups contain relatively close players.
Don't forget that aside from the SC2 tournament, you can also watch CS:GO, CS:GO Girls, Shootmania, DotA2 (English and French) and LoL, Fifa 13, TrackMania:Nations, TrackMania:Canyons and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (French only)
Day 1 : Friday, Nov 02 8:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
Day 2 : Saturday, Nov 03 8:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
Finals : Saturday, Nov 03 3:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Beware Terrans lovers, the following player list will crush your poor heart !
Top Seed
High Seed
Challenger Seed
Medium Seed
AlaStOr and French Spot #1 take the seed of XiGua and Xy who couldn't attend due to visa issues (unconfirmed), TitaN takes sLivko seed due to visa issues (confirmed) and the former French Spot #1 is now French Spot #2 .
Group A : MaNa and DeathAngel.
Group B : Harstem and StarNaN are up and coming players who performed well at DH events. They meet here with TitaN a russian protoss who is very solid. I'm going with a bold prediction and say that Titan will fall. Even though he is the more established players he can have troubles in Group Stage. PvP being what it is, I see him lose to both Harstem and StarNaN
Group C : NightEnD and Hanfy.
Group D : PandaTank is a lovable character in the community and not the bad player everyone expects him to be. He can win against most non-top EU players. Hawk will be his main opponent but I think the US player will defend his country's name (at least for this stage) and advance with DIMAGA.
Group E : Squirtle and JonnyREcco.
Group F : Will Stephano let SortOf wins so that Tidus Mino can display his joy on TL ?
Group G : Bly and AlaStOr are both better than MiNiMaTh.
Group H : ForGG just came back to France after being force to travel back to Korea in order to get a visa. On paper he is stronger than both Feast and TargA ... except TargA seems to have ForGG's number and Feast has already shown he can take out korean terrans before. This and the fact that Feast don't possess PartinG's soul when doing immortal all-ins makes me think TargA will advance first with ForGG. But it could go differently.

DeathAngel vs MaNa gonna start now on the main stage
Love these player introductions French people know how to make a good show!

2 terrans in whole tournament?
|
2. Terrans. Only one of which is good enough to make it out of group stage -_-
Considering the disparity in skill between top and bottom players in this tournament, the group placements actually have some potential for upsets. Mana and Nightend have to play their worst matchup PvZ twice. Stephano, Bly and Titan have lots of volatile mirror matchups. ForGG is in the only group with 2 players actually capable of taking down a known Korean. Squirtle got the luckiest group draw with 2 players who don't even have a liquipedia page.

WonWonWon Mana. Taking a page out of SoulProtoss' book

I just corrected the groups on LP. Apparently they are playing the 4 first groups this morning and the rest this afternoon.

I've seriously never heard of PSiArc, anyone care to explain how strong he is?
