If my computer is turned off i feel dead inside

I started cleaning out my room. My parents came today and they brought a fan. cleaning supplies, and a vacuum cleaner which were huge helps. I plan on rearranging my room so that there is more space...it finally feels like and smells like less of a shithole now

Something that caught my attention though was that my computer is ALWAYS ON. I like to leave it on 24/7 because its just nice to be able to swivel the mouse and the computer springs to action within seconds. I think it can also be used to symbolize how much of a part that my computer plays in my life. It's the first thing I check in the morning and it's the last thing Im on right before I sleep

I don't think i would be comfortable if my computer was turned off right now and I was in the same room. It's a lifestyle choice that I make with no regrets

Damn, that wastes so much electricity, not to mention sleep time.

Also, there's a chemical in your body called melatonin. It plays a crucial role in helping you sleep. EMFs and short-frequency light can cause your body to discard melatonin because it thinks (to a small extent) that it's daytime. I would highly recommend turning off your computer at least when you go to sleep.

the screen goes off though after 10 mins and it seems like its off except you can just hear the small fan which is evidence of it being alive

Leaving your PC on idol settings when not in use everyday doesn't use much power anyway, people do it all the time. But on the other hand, I think powering a system or hard booting so often puts the most strain on hardware compared to having it adequately cooled and running.

I tend to leave my system in hibernate or sleep, then do a warm reboot once every week or couple days for a vareity of obvious reasons.

Leaving it on sleep is a good idea. Also you might want to find something other than computer stuff in your life. Try a book or get a pet?

Not sure how it is for you, but for me, my computer generates a lot of heat. I don't sleep in the same room as my computer, but as there are two huge glass panel windows in my computer room that always have the sun on them, so it's awfully stuffy in there in the mornings anyway; leaving the computer on certainly doesn't help matters.

wow lol. I would normally assume that this was written tongue-in-cheek, but having seen your blog history, I'm not so sure...

Well, THAT doesn't sound good.... I suggest not relying on your computer quite so much; hang out with some friends more often. Granted, if it's your choice and you're happy with it, then fine. I used to do the same thing. I had/have a pretty major addiction to the computer and the Internet. But I recognize that I'd rather spend more of my time elsewhere, as I started to regret my past decisions regarding games and the computer.

I've some advice: enjoy your PC, but don't let it control you or your life.
