ASUS ROG announces a $10 000 invitational tournament in cooperation with The GD Studio called ASUS ROG The GD Invitational.
This year ASUS ROG has put together two great events, ASUS ROG Winter 2012 and ASUS ROG Summer 2012, but we are not yet done with ASUS ROG tournaments in 2012. At October 13-14 ASUS ROG takes a leap over the bay and for the first time brings the competition to Stockholm, Sweden. The GD Studio, who handled the stream production at the last ASUS ROG event, kindly welcomes eight StarCraft 2 players in their home and sets up a show once again in the name of a tournament that is ASUS ROG The GD Invitational.
Much like the ASUS ROG Invitational held last year, the GD Invitational is a two day purely invitational tournament, for which ASUS ROG will invite eight European StarCraft 2 players. The first three invites have already been sent out for ROG.elfi, Empire.Kas and Liquid.Ret. The rest of the invites are revealed later. The prize pool of the tournament is $10 000 USD.
The founder of The GD Studio, James “2GD” Harding, gave a comment about the event:
"We're excited to turn our house, where it seems everyone just plays video games, into a house where people come and play video games! Pease don't sleep in my bed, the sheets need changing. Otherwize, Best of luck to all competitors, we hope we put on a great tournament for ASUS ROG!"

ASUS ROG announces the full player list and more details about the upcoming $10 000 USD invitational tournament ASUS ROG The GD Invitational held in Stockholm 13-14 October.
Only two weeks to go until the next ASUS ROG Tournament starts in Stockholm, Sweden. As we previously announced, eight European players are invited to battle over the trophy in the two day tournament in a laid back environment provided by the GD Studio crew and their house. Earlier, we revealed three names ( ROG.elfi, Empire.Kas, TLAF-Liquid.Ret), but now the roster is complete with the remaining five invites going to some of the best names in Europe:
EG.Stephano.RC, EG.ThorZaIN.RC, mouz.MaNa, Karont3.LucifroN and FnaticRC.NightEnD.
There has been a change in the tournament format since the last announcement. The group stage will be played in a round robin format instead of the GSL style double tournament format. The reason for this is that with only one player dropping out in a group the usual problems in a round robin system are avoided, and also the GSL style group doesn’t leave much suspense for the last match as both of the players are going to advance regardless of the result.
More details such as groups and schedule released closer to the tournament.
