The Code A qualifiers for 2012 GSL Season 2 are soon upon us (10-11 March) and let us cheer for the brave foreigners who are attempting to qualify for the hardest and most prestigious StarCraft 2 tournament. Though they are outnumbered by the Korean menace, one cannot deny the size of their hearts and spirits. They are the underdogs, yes. But for the first time a foreigner may make it through the Code A qualifiers. Miracles can happen. Dreams can come true.

Not participating:

+ Show Spoiler +
(P)Artosis

Artosis hasn't tried for a few seasons, and now being a father, he has less time to practice then ever and thus I must
assume that he will not be trying to qualify.

Quantic.(P)NaNiwa

NaNiwa said on Twitter that he wasn't participating. I don't know why.

Ls (aka (T)Lastshadow)

Apparently his condition is really bad, and he's not going to even attempt to qualify.

Ai.(Z)Cytoplasm

Cytoplasm is spending a month in Germany and will thus miss the qualifiers. A shame, since he made it to the Ro4 last time.

Quantic.(Z)Shuffle

Shuffle is back in Australia due to VISA issues.

EG(T)IdrA

IdrA is done in Korea as far as I know. He's going back to the EG Lair after the IEM World Championships.

Dignitas.(T)SeleCT

SeleCT has left Korea recently.

EG(P)HuK

HuK has an Up and Down seed.

THE BRAVE SOULS

Liquid(T)Jinro

The Great White Hope, the Gorilla Terran, Jinro has come incredibly close in his last two attempts to make it to Code A. Although he took a two week break from StarCraft after Assembly, just before that Jinro had been looking better than ever on his stream, made it to the Ro4 of EWM and you gotta believe that it may be time for the second coming of the Gorilla Terran.

Liquid(Z)HayprO

Having recently returned to Korea, HayprO will attempt to improve on his 0-4 GSL record by making it into Code A for a better showing. HayprO has many people doubtful of his skill, but history has shown us that when HayprO is on his A-Game, he's REALLY on his A-Game. Defeating NesTea and nearly Mvp at MLG Providence, these flashes of brilliance have given HayprO's fans hope. But which HayprO will turn up to the qualifiers? The mediocre fan favourite or the GSL champion destroyer?

Quantic.(P)SaSe

SaSe has been seeded into Code A 3 times previously, and gone out in the first round all 3 times. This will be his first time actually attempting to go through the qualifiers. SaSe would definitely be one of the favourites to make it of all the foreigners trying. He's taken down players such as Bomber, and there very well could be a rematch between those two. He got to the finals of an ESV weekly...can he make it to Code A?

WinDy

Also known as MajOr, AngelGirl, Terran and...okay, I'll stop myself there. Having recently left Check-Six, WinDy will finally be trying the Code A qualifiers. WinDy is quite the enigma. We don't really know how good he's gotten from the Korean training he has received. But his work ethic cannot be denied, as we know he plays an insane amount of games. One to keep an eye on.

EDIT: Khaldor says his ID is MajOr again. Well...okay!

(T)cArn

Oh god, I'll cut the news article style of typing for a second and just say dear god, my heart aches for this guy. He has lost his team, and had periods where he went several months without practice and he is STILL fighting it out. cArn has a never give up attitude and I desperately want his determination to finally pay off. He said on Twitter that he's been getting back into shape, and the amount of games he's been playing recently on his ladder account agrees with that. cArn making it through would be a true Cindarella story. By the way, read his blogs, they're fucking awesome.

(P)desRow

desRow is a controversial figure. But whether you love him or you hate him, he's in Korea trying to be the best. He has an account in KR GM, though Ls said that desRow didn't actually get that account to GM. I really have no idea how good desRow is. He lost in the first round last time but you gotta believe that his time in Korea would definitely have improved his skills by now. Don't count him out.

coL.(T)TriMaster

Having recently arrived in Korea, TriMaster is living with the MvP team. Though his Korean training (Hyperbolic Time Chamber style) most certainly has not kicked in yet, TriMaster is the king of the upset, taking out Jinro, IdrA and more at MLG. Has he improved since then? Nobody knows, but we're sure as hell gonna find out.

mouz.(Z)MorroW

MaruPrime eliminated MorroW from Code A last season in what was at the time, an upset. But MorroW has definitely improved from his stay in Korea. One question that must be asked is can he play TvZ in the qualifiers? I know he is allowed to in the GSL itself, but can he for the qualifiers? If so, he has a very good shot at qualifying, if not...hitting a Zerg could be the death of him.

eS.(T)Naama

Having done fairly well in events such as the ESV weekly, Naama, after a long period of silence, may make a huge splash by qualifying for Code A. With the new eSahara-oGs agreement, Naama is well set for a future in Korea, particularly if he succeeds here.

eS.(Z)DeathAngel

A lesser known player, DeathAngel is in Korea with his teammate Naama and he was supposedly doing well in the in-house ranking matches of the ProS house. DeathAngel hasn't done anything particularly notable, but qualifying for Code A would certainly change that.

FnaticRC.(P)ToD

ToD, a WarCraft III Legend who made everybody freak out when he took out Alicia at an MLG one time, is trying to qualify for Code A for the 3rd time. He had a disappointing run in the last two qualifiers, but he was taken out by the player who went on to qualify, so it may be a simple case of bad luck for ToD. You know what they say, third time is the charm.

However, it should be noted that he's currently in Europe and as of right now I'm not sure if he will be back in time.

FXO(P)SLoG

Although he's taken more of a managerial role than that of a player, SLoG apparently still practices, and having made it to the Ro4 of the qualifiers before and training with the FXO team, definitely isn't someone you should say doesn't have a chance.

iG.(Z)XiGua

After a nailbitingly close loss to Killer in Code A last season that came down to a pylon, XiGua, the best Chinese player, will seek redemption by qualifying for Code A.

iG.(P)MacSed

MacSed had a disappointing showing against Keen, but he can prove that his near defeat of Mvp at WCG was no fluke, and he is a top level player who is here to stay by qualifying for Code A.

There's so many of them and these days there's quite a few spots in Code A up for grabs so I think at least one will make it.

Then I guess he will get a Code S seed.

You forgot Naniwa, think he has quite a good chance as well.

Would be heartbreaking to see a Foreigner v Foreigner fight in the final of one of those Code A Qualifier brackets.

Edit: I just saw the spoiler. You might want to do a quick one line sentence outside of the spoiler with the people that aren't participating.

A lot of good foreigners. At least one of them should make it this time.
Counting on Huk, Sase, Morrow, ToD, Major, Jinro, Naama (in that order).
