My wall is making clicking noises

retRed United States63 Posts December 14 2011 11:17 GMT #1 Hello I woke up at 5am this morning because my wall around the window is making these clicking noises. They aren't on beat and they are about 5 clicks every 10 seconds. I looked to see through the window and theirs nothing there, went outside nothing there. Can someone give me some idea on what to do? Maybe some of you have or had this problem before

cofree Norway31 Posts December 14 2011 11:39 GMT #4 I don't know much about plumbing, but my guess is that it's from the water pipes in the wall. Maybe they're expanding/moving when heated up. You could try running hot water through them, by filling up a sink with water and then drain it.

nihlon Sweden5581 Posts December 14 2011 11:44 GMT #5 How loud is it? Can you compare the sounds to something so we know what kind of clicking sounds it is? Are you sure it's coming from the wall and not from a radiator or some electronics nearby? It could be from pipes and it can also be (depending on what kind and how old the house is) the house "moving," creating weird noises. Or you got a wood pecker on the outside wall.

Kernkraft 93 Posts December 14 2011 12:26 GMT #8 Turn off your radiator during night. Your wall is probably wooden and expands with the temperature of the pipe for the radiator. Are you sure its your wall? For me its my wooden floor which makes clicking noises when the radiator changes the temperature.
