Hey guys this is Kevin. I found this article to be somewhat interesting so I translated the majority of it, but there were way too many games that I am unaware of. Therefore I did a brief 70% translation.. Enjoyyy and as always, Thanks for reading! ^0^

G-Star 2011 The Best Booth and the Best Game?

From November 10 to November 11, Thisisgame.com went to G-star 2011 Event to find out the most popular booth and the most popular game. The research was concentrated on finding the most popular booth, game, and the prizes amongst the spectators in Korea.
The questions were asked outside of the event in the hallway or near by. Total of 496 spectators participated in the research whom have all answered with detail and sincerity. Where was the first booth that these spectators tend to go to? Which game is the most popular? The results are about to be shown.

Booths:
The most popularly visited booth was Blizzard, but Nexon was the most popular choice for the first stop.

This year, the most popular booth in G-star was Blizzard Entertainment and Nexon.
In the B2C Convention Center (the place where G-star was held), the most visited area was the Top5 located at the very back. Out of all the booths in that area, Blizzard booth was the most popular choice to visit amongst the spectators. Out of the total spectators whom have answered, 67% are either at G-Star just to stop by the Blizzard Booth or to win prizes from the Blizzard Booth.

Furthermore Nexon booth was right behind Blizzard in its popularity recording 66%. NcSoft(56%), Neowiz Games(53%) and NHN (45%).
Blizzard created the booth so that the spectators can get a glimpse of the Diablo 3 (which is planned to be released early next year by Blizzard), Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, and Blizzard Dota. Such design of the booth allowed Blizzard to gain the most popularity. Also the new goal by Blizzard to create a Blizzard Dota has also increased popularity amongst those that are interested in the AOS game.

The Korean Company Nexon who has created the AOS game Cyphers have also gained a lot of popularity. One could say that they have shown the power of “Game Coupon.” A lot of the spectators came to the Nexon Booth and stayed there to get the Game Coupons. From that, Nexon was able to become the most popular “first stop” booth.

Out of the 486 partcipants in the research, 120 of them (24%) visited the Nexon first. Blizzard Booth won second place in the ranking of the “first stop” booth with 103 participants (21%).

Out of all the booths, Nexon and Blizzard were the only ones that were successfully able to gain over 20% of the spectators to visit them first. Right behind them, Guild Wars 2 by NcSoft (41, 8%), Dizzel by NeowizGames (33, 7%), YeoulHyulGangho 2 by Mgame (33, 7%).

The booth that was worth going: Blizzard. The booth that was not worth going: Nexon.

The G-star audiences reported the Blizzard booth to be the most worthy booth for a visit. Blizzard is the only booth that was able to gain over 20% of the audience rating it as the “most worthy booth” for a visit.

Despite the overwhelming number of people visiting the Blizzard Booth due to the Diablo 3, Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, and Blizzard Dota, the fans were still able to experience a glimpse of the games even from far away. Also the Blizzard Store and the fan art event, and etc helped Blizzard become the must-go booth for the audience.

On the other hand, was it because of the overwhelming popularity? Blizzard was also ranked 2nd in the worst booth to visit. Unfortuantely Diablo 3 was only for those over the age of 18, therefore a lot of the middle school and high school students were not able to experience the game. Also the never ending line may explain such ranking.
Nexon was ranked 2nd in the most worthy booth to visit. But was it the after effect of the prizes? Nexon booth was also one of the most irritating booth to visit with 38%. The attitude toward the Nexon booth was half and half.
Other than the two, the other booth that were also popular to visit includes the NcSoft (14%) and NHN (10%).

Games:
The most anticipated game <Diablo 3>, The game that provides the most new experience <The Dizzel>

This year, the most anticipated games in G-star was the new upcoming games by Blizzard.
Out of those who have responded, Blizzard’s <Diablo 3> (48%) and <Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm> 36%.

Right behind Blizzard was Lineage Tunnel (32%).
Lineage Tunnel is a game that was just announced two days before the G-Star. Therefore there was no way to directly experience the game and only video clips were shown.
Nexon’s game Cyphers (21%) and NcSoft’s Guildwar 2 (16%) trailed right behind.
The game that was played and experienced the most was the TPS game Dizzel by NeowizGames.

496 doesn't really seem like a large enough sample size to draw any conclusions from considering the size of the event, but thanks for the translation anyway it was an interesting read.

Small error here:

The booth that was worth going: Blizzard. The blizzard that was not worth going: Nexon.

Thanks for thetranslation, I guess it just reinforces that MMOs really have taken over.

as for why bw wasn't mentioned, it should be obvious - it was an article about a game developers convention and nobody is promoting bw right now

Well my pattern with all the games I like goes like this:

1. Buy game
2. Play NONSTOP for like 2 weeks, and when I say NONSTOP it's like, 14 hours a day or such ridiculous numbers
3. Get some sense knocked into my head, play casually on weekends until I stop it altogether (usually 6 months)
4. Years later I revisit the game and play it once or twice

It has been like this with Diablo 1&2, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 1&2, Portal, FF7&9 and many oldschool nintendo games like Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World. I haven't played many games compared to many, but the ones I play I consider masterpieces.

Diablo 3 is going to be really really big in Korea... i feel bad that they didn't get the beta.. they seemed really pissed about that. I'm sure that If the Beta was released in SK, there would a little bit less hype for it at GDC.

I wonder what the participants' thought between Diablo 3 and Lineage Eternal. From all the gameplays on youtube, Lineage Eternal seems to be on par, if not better than Diablo 3 imo.

Is this the same event where Blizzard announced SC2 in 2007? Or did they do their own thing for that?

That event was the Worldwide Invitationals, which was a Blizzard thing.
