Starting a fanclub with a newly created account

I've got a question about starting a new fanclub.

At the moment, the OP for every fanclub is controlled by one person alone. If this person loses interest in updating it or even stops visiting TL.net altogether, the only ones who can keep the OP up-to-date are those with moderator privileges.

I would like to launch a new fanclub from an account that has been created specificly for this reason. I know that using multiple accounts is not usually allowed but there are clear benefits of permitting an exception and would ensure that a fanclub can stay active without being a burden to the person who originally started it or the moderators. Even if a fanclub is not abandoned, it would encourage a communal effort between a group of fans.

Also, the designated account would only have one single post and would not engage in discussions in order to avoid any potential controversy. If it's technically possible to prohibit the account from posting anything and only giving it rights to edit the OP, it would be even better.

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that fan clubs need more love from the coders ^^

This doesn't fix the problem of lack of updates due to the OP going inactive, which seems like the issue. What is to stop the owner of the specifically created account from disappearing? After which there is no difference between that account and a regular user account that goes inactive after posting the OP.

if the fanclub player or personality wants us to change the OP we can switch it to whoever they wish, so this is no problem.

While it is possible that the original creator might disappear completely without telling anyone and basically be a dick, it is unlikely. Not being able to put the time into looking after it is one thing - but not even bothering to send a couple of PMs is completely different.

Also, in this particular case I already have some people on board to help, so even if one of us disappears without a trace, the others would be able to carry on.

This is nice to know as I've read lots of posts by people claiming that this is impossible, giving examples of abandoned fanclubs and so on. I guess it pretty much solves the issue then; I'll just start the thread with my own account.
