TL would be a great place if not for [some of] the moderators.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=209218
This thread was closed with the reasoning "use the search function". How about you use the search function first before closing my thread? What do you see? Anything useful or relevant? No. Which is why I made the thread in the first place.
--
People have "guides" to "stopping" a korean 4 gate, but none of them apply to the thread I started, which is korean 4 gate on far positions on a map, such as metalopolis, where it's impossible for you to get zealots into their base before they wall and get warp gate research completed.
The other techniques of holding it (in the threads shown) also would never work (having 2 zealots and a stalker vs. 4 zealots in your mineral line will NEVER work, because they can put one zealot on each of yours, one on your stalker, AND one on your probes, doing guaranteed economic damage, and inevitably winning by being ahead in every single way).
I didn't even make that thread because I was fed up with losing to it. I made the thread because I've been using it and it loses to NOTHING (except a blind 10 gate 2 gate).
I could go on in elaborate detail about why no thread (that shows up in search results) actually has a good way to hold a korean 4 gate, but it's not the point of this thread.
--
The point is: I didn't break a single rule. I didn't make a redundant post that is covered by anything in search results. I didn't include a replay because it wasn't a [h] thread. I didn't do anything wrong, and I get a warning for it with the cheap excuse "use the search function".
Obviously this isn't the first reason I've had for thinking moderators on TL are morons, but it's the latest one. Here's another example:
Notice how that's complete bullshit? I made a completely legitimate statement. The micro in SC2 is NOT very hard. What's hard is microing and macroing at the same time, but that wasn't relevant to the thread at the time. So I made a completely relevant response, that any good player will agree with, and I got banned for it.
Beyond this, basically any interesting thread made in the general Starcraft 2 section gets closed for no legitimate reason (ones that don't actually break any rules). I don't have any good examples on hand, but I wasn't really planning this thread weeks in advance either.
I'm obviously not the only one who thinks this, but don't be surprised if no one else posts in this thread to agree. They're probably already banned for arbitrary and illegitimate reasons. I wouldn't make this thread (knowing I'll probably get banned for it), if I thought I could actually have thought provoking conversation in this website, but I know it's completely impossible, given the moderators.

If you're reasonable, you'll take this thread for what it is: Feed back. I'm not here to start a shit storm, I'm giving valid feedback about the website. Sorry if it makes some of you tear up. Do something about your fucking moderators. Banning shouldn't be up to their entirely arbitrary discretion. There should be actual guidelines that they follow. Hopefully this will create some kind of meaningful conversation about the topic, but undoubtedly this thread will just get closed and I'll get banned at the arbitrary discretion of some moderator.
Edit: I should add that I have seen some moderators who do act very appropriately and reasonably, but from what I've seen, they are the minority.
User was temp banned for this post.

Goodbye, thanks for playing!

Um this is not the way to "clear your name". If you have an issue with a moderator, PM them. This thread is just a whine that will be closed just like your last one.
As ETT would say "go do some squats"...

As ETT would say "go do some squats"... I'm not trying to "clear my name", I'm trying to give website feedback. I can't post on this website because every thread gets closed for no reason, or I get warned/banned for no reason.
I should mention that I have privately PM'd moderators in the past, especially when I was not sure if my post was allowed or not, and asked how I could avoid breaking any rules in regards to those subjects.
That doesn't help when posts get warnings/bans for no legitimate reason, or threads get closed for no reason.

I'm sure you won't get a warning for the substanceless post though, no worries.

You're a terrible poster. It's pretty easy to see.

in response to your last point:
Give me a guideline and a room full of a dozen trolls will find you a loophole. The moderators ultimately use their discretion because it's the best way to really keep the forum clean. Of course there are basic guidelines that they follow, but the mods aren't robots. Sure, they might mis-warn or mis-ban once in a blue moon, but they're all reasonable people, and inquiring or explaining politely in PM will either get you: 1) warn/ban revoked, or 2) a more detailed explanation of the thought that went into warn/ban.

My sincerest apologies Kennigit. Thanks for the correction :D

I'm generally a pretty helpful/informative person, and most of my posts reflect that. I complained about moderators though, I can't be good.

This is an enduring problem for the website, not a one time thing. I have made mistakes in the past, gotten threads closed for legitimate reasons, asked why, and been told, and been ok with that. This is not the same.

See commandment #1.
Then be grateful you're getting a reason at all.

Then be grateful you're getting a reason at all. Yes, I've read that thread. I repeat myself a third time: I'm not asking for reasons. I'm giving feedback. It may be their house, but I'm telling them how to make it better. Moderators who don't follow guidelines hurt, not help.
I'm also not saying there's anything wrong with TL as a whole either, so there's no reason to get butt hurt and make ad hominem attacks over it.

Alright, alright. I see your point, perhaps there is a better to get the mods attention then insulting them. If you realy, truly want to provide feedback, why the attitude? Why get all cranky about a warning which you feel is undeserved. Surely you would have better luck pointing out the flaws in a clear and anger free way.
I'm sorry but I can't help see this as an excuse to whinge about how the mods are using there powers. I mean your title pretty much sums it up for me.
But if you are convinced that you are some righteous crusade, then so be it.
I'm out...

Would have been a fairly insightful conversation for probably a silent group of people who read this thread and agreed with you.
