Atlas_550's 1v1 Night
Where: US Server
When: Thursday, October 7th @ 01:00 GMT (+00:00)-08:00 GMT (+00:00)
What: 1v1 Games! Just a fun little event where we can gather together and just play against each other.
Why: Because SC2 is a game and sometimes you need to just take a break and have some fun. What do I mean by having some fun? I mean, not being worried about winning or losing. Just either working on your current game or trying out some crazy strategy you've always wanted to use. Plus, I want something fun for the viewers to watch. Last time I did something like this (As a spontaneous thing), the viewers had a ton of fun watching and seeing what players would do. Plus, when I came up with this idea it seemed I got a good reaction. Hopefully with enough popularity and show, this will become a weekly fun event for people.
How to Join the Fun: Now, this is just something I am going to be streaming. I may even play a few games myself. So here's how you get involved in playing some games. Simply PM me your character name and code (name.code) and I'll add you as friend. Once the event start, I'll start to ask who wants to play. Rules: No more than 5 observers will be allowed in the games. 2 of those spots will be for me and possible other commentators. And no cheating and listening to the stream. I will be watching closely. That is it.
If you would also like to stream 1v1 events on your stream, just let me know. I'll add you to the following list of streams that are running the for fun 1v1 games:

Just a quick update:
There is some interest. So we should be good for this Thursday.
Note: You want to get some exposure for your play (whether good or bad) sign up and see how things go.

so... how do I work out what time this is in Melbourne, Australia?
I think, you can make it so that somehow, the time in your OP gets converted automatically. Not sure how though.

You are +16 hrs from US Central, so around 2 pm your time on Friday I believe is the start in Australia. I will look into adding an auto convert if I can find it

TL has time autoconvert, I think it's [time] tags but check the search

Quick question, is there some sort of play format? Or is it just a random gathering of people to play whoever and whatever. King of the hill perhaps?

Basically it will ve 1v1s. We may do a "King of the Hill" format deal, but if we get where someone has won everything we'll start playing other people against eachother. For instance, in KOTH, X beats Y, and then X plays Z. But Z doesn't play Y because Y got beat by X. Where as what will go on here is X beats Y and then can play again at their leisure. Then Z can take a shot at Y or X depending on who wants to play.
This way, if it works out, everyone can play everyone at one point.

I'd watch if it weren't so late on a weekday =/ Edit: oops realized it started at a decent time, but goes way to late for me to attempt watching for more than an hour or so.

That's perfectly fine, you don't have to watch it all to enjoy it . The only reason it happens so late is because I get done with class and a concert (Am a music major) alittle bit before that time. And I told my audience I would try to broadcast thursday and see if I could get some good action going. Only reason it goes late is cause I don't have class till noon my time the next day
Also to update.
We've got a decent roster of players so far. I'm sure some of the people that participated last time would love to show up as well so we got players. Would still love some more to come play.
Plus we got an observer/possible co-commentator as well.
So should be a fun night.

So, as an update before I go to bed...
It's a very toss line up right now. Some terran and more zerg players coming out would be appreciated
|
Update:
We will be using both blizzard ladder maps and ICCup maps for the map pool tonight.
See you all tonight!

Alright folks! The time is nearly here.
In roughly 50 minutes the 1v1s will start on the Atlas_550 stream. We have a group of players willing to take a shot at this and it should be fun. Also, if you still want to play some 1v1s, feel free to just say so on the chat.
So 50 minutes, 1v1s on ladder maps and ICCup maps. It should be fun!

And the first Atlas_550's 1v1 Night was a success by my standard. Got a ton of games in (Atleast 12) and saw a ton of interesting things (All queen build and 2 hatch main before pool). Also got some viewers in and later at night had more viewers.
This was alot of fun and I got some ideas on what to do for the next 1v1 night. Which, even though it is not technically a tournament, I think I will post in the tournaments section.
Thanks all who came out! I had alot of fun running and commentating an event and I will try to get replays posted in places.
Thanks agaiN!
