After the reset I made the experiment to lose all placement matches in order to find out how quickly someone can ascend from copper to platinum. The results were:
wins loses league 0 - 5 copper 9 - 5 bronze( somewhere between bronze and silver the AMM starts to put me only against gold/platinum players) 13 - 6 silver 17 - 6 gold 20 - 10 platinum
I dont know if anyone finds this information interesting, anyway sorry to those who lost many points being favored vs me.
(note: before reset i was 1500+ platinum zerg after 300+ games)

Hmm very interesting, I guess we don't have to put all that much work into going up leagues. I've been doing 2v2 random, ended up in silver league with 3-2 in placements, and when I hit 10-3, I got promoted to gold. Hopefully I can hit platinum soon.

Thats pretty fast, but not surprising if you get placed against platinum players when you were only in bronze.

I did the same thing after the first major reset of beta... took me longer. It paired me up with some very strong players and I lost some games though... but it was pretty clear I was going to be reaching plat eventually (just like you) and yet it didn't skip over any leagues.

I went 4-1 in the placement matches and got put in gold (some silver douche did a dual rax in base proxy). Then I went 5-0 in Gold and was promoted to platinum.

It's nice to get some solid numbers for this!

Well... I feel like that leagues say nothin about ur real skill... u can come plat with just cheesing and that pretty easily.

What name do you use? I just got a rage email a little while ago from one of my cousins(in europe) about being favored against some noob zerg in bronze and losing quickly to just pure macro/micro. Hes really mad and wants to know who it was that did it to him so he can er..."talk" to him/her.

What skillrange did you choose? (Novice, Experienced, Veteran)

It's goot that the system corrects itself so quickly.
EDIT: Although, in reality it's copper to plat in 25 games, since at the moment you're counting your initial 5 placement matches where you're leagueless.

He counted those, note the 0-5 in copper

well i honestly dont know. When the reset was going to happen I gave my account to a friend in order to try it for a while. The next day I see in my msn his message: "I made a new profile for me, I hope I m not ruining anything to you, eh?" "I was, like wtf?" and it seems that he had played a placement match as well (he had lost it) so i came up with this idea as well as a good way to be familiar with the new hotkeys (v for spawn larva omg)
when i see him i m going to ask him

For 2v2 Random allies I'd usually go 5-0 and get platinum Recently, I went 4-1 and went platinum However, After the patch, I went 4-1 but got gold this time, wierd.

hahaha that's hilarious. Seriously though op's numbers look standard to me. It's not hard to get plat in a day no matter what your record is currently if you go on some sick winning streaks. I made plat zerg in a day after f'ing around going random after the first ladder reset. I made plat zerg from silver when beta was first opened after about 150 games, the first 100 of which I was experimenting greatly. I also went 15-2 2vs2 random when I switched to T and it bumped me from silver to plat after more than 100 games at silver.

edit:And yes the games are 25 actually thnx for correcting

I was going to congratulate you for improving your skill from copper to plat so fast, but looks like that's not what this is about lol.
Interesting info though

Now there just need to be an experiment of getting placed in plat with 5-0, and see how many games you need to get back down to copper
|
I'm pretty sure they move you up if you can meet a certain number of wins in a row.
