sorry, probably should take this to a PM, but since you answered here...
So what strategic value would there be for mafia to kill each other?

They could pretend one of them was vig I guess and start a town circle. No other vig would claim the kill if they didn't make it probably. That could be clever. Or incredibly stupid haha.

So what strategic value would there be for mafia to kill each other? Pretending to be a vigilante, maybe gaining the trust of the medic you know is protecting you. The use of this is very situational. The main use of it is to keep a medic who makes a save from being 100% certain that they protected an innocent if there is no SK or Vigi hit (or they can account for said hit). Anything else is just someone being creative (for which they should be commended).

GC don't sign up for games if you aren't going to contribute at all -.-.
On another note, I'd like to reiterate that everyone should roleclaim to Opz. He is entirely confirmed. If anyone can think of a reason not to please PM me, regardless of your role.
|
shockeyy, seraph or daarth. darth has only been saying he will contribute later and has not contributed. check his posts. they all almost say tomorrow. even his pm to me. im fine with his lynch, and seraphs.
either there are no blues or they arent paying attention. or they just dont believe me
|
Well I guess we'll find out about the blues if another vigi is in the game and shoots someone, or a MH gets killed. From my understanding Darth was spared because he promised to begin contributing more. I'd like to see that happen, not excuses putting it off. =/

From what I've seen, people I don't think are mafia: opz, zergling, orgolove, lunardestiny, wiggles, barundar, GGQ
possible mafia: seraph, insanious, pandain, d3, tree, shockeyy, jackal58
Since I was asked to look at GGQ specifically, here's some analysis:
He hasn't posted too much, but he hasn't done anything scummy either, either than lack of posting I guess. Could be worse. Most of what he said day 1 is pretty logical and generic stuff, not a tell for either side.

Yeah my bad. I was bus driver and redirected a mafia kill to you. You died to save a detective, though! LSB's advice in this game has been very similar to his posts in the pokemafia game where he was town, but he's gotten into an argument here which he carefully avoided in that game. I know he gave a reason for that already, but I think that it's not a good enough reason for this whole drawn-out argument. I'm not ready to vote for him, but it's worth noting. I don't know why annul is so focused on him. It was good to bring his spamminess to everyone's attention so he would be under the town's focus and forced to post more constructively, but it's not good to be tunnel-visioning him already. If this argument gets too much focus then everyone else will fly under the radar. This post, he's defending LSB and accusing annul subtly. Well, accusing is a strong word for it, but he's calling annul out for sure, while offering LSB some defense.

it was the smarter move to not blow the power the next day, so i didnt. they still had no idea if i was guerilla or not. But you were, in fact, a guerilla? How is that helping your argument here? Here he calls out annul for bad posting.

I'm not voting you quite yet but I would like you to give more than one line answers whenever someone puts a fos on you. Consider this post a +1 for Annul's case against LSB. I'd like to see you take some time in defending yourself and not just brush it off because there were some good points in annul's post. Give me a point to address then. Bump. Why did you OMGUS vote annul when I'm sure you know that's a common scumtell? ... and why did you vote for him while you kept trying to make town look for inactives? Shouldn't you be trying to convince people to your case if you where certain enough to vote? In pokemafia, you said "I was very protective of my Shockeyy lynch", when someone suggested another possible mafia lynch. Now you are fine with the town splitting up attention. How would you explain this change in play style? OMGUS: The point is, lets say I do an analysis of you, and its all lies. Wouldn't you be suspicious of me? It would be selfish of me to not do anything about it. As a townie I have a responsibility to attack Annul, even though it may be a bit scummyInactives: In case you haven't noticed, I've been dealing with the inactives using blue roles. I proposed we deal with inactives by a combination of DT checks and mass cover by everyone allowing the DTs to safely . The thing is, this plan was immediatly dismissed by people who probably didn't read the thread. All they say is "well, lets not rely on DTs". In addition, as I've said, we should lynch an inactive only when there iw no obvious mafia canditdate. Given that I found a obvious mafia candidate... I'm unsatisfied with this answer. No, if you did an analysis of me and FOSed me as mafia when I'm not, that in and of itself would not make me any more suspicious of you. In fact, active scumhunting would make you more likely to be town. As for his analysis being 'all lies', I don't see any lies in his analysis post. You may disagree with his opinions, or think his logic is weak, but that doesn't make him mafia. If you are town, you're the only one who knows that so it doesn't make sense to vote for someone just because they voted for you. What really worries me about this lynch is that besides deconduo there hasn't really been anyone trying to divert the lynch, so either LSB is town or his buddies are abandoning him. Brings up several good points about posting styles. Be wary of people that post like town, but don't do any scumhunting. Unforunately, LSB ended up beign town anyway, but these are all valid points.

I don't particularly FOS you, but it should be pointed out that this doesn't clear you by a long shot. Mafia knows better than anyone who is clear, and it's very easy for them to buddy a townie to appear clean when he flips. As for annul and pandain, we shouldn't lynch them just because they are wrong. But we also shouldn't let them get away too easily. Some people have suggested that they wouldn't be so bold if they were mafia. But with the godfather and the framer(s) to mess with the DTs, mafia can afford to be pretty bold this game. Pointing out the possibility of annul being godfather... big no no if he was mafia.
On December 31 2010 04:20 GGQ wrote: I feel that I should reveal this information since mafia already knows it; I was roleblocked last night.
I just read through the entire thread again and here are my thoughts:
-Pandain doesn't seem like scum to me, just a flip-flopping townie.
-Brockett narrowly avoided a lynch and still hasn't contributed anything. Much fewer posts and different posting style than his townie play in Pokemafia
-I'm still suspicious of TheMango but don't have solid reasoning for it
-I am pretty confident that ROL is town, but I dont necessarily agree with all his picks for mafia
-Insanious doesn't seem scummy to me. People keep saying that he was 'so sure' LSB was blue, but if you actually read his posts, that's not what he was saying
-I'm on the fence about annul. I always thought his tunneling on LSB was stupid, but that doesn't make him mafia. He certainly could be, though
-I'm most suspicious atm of Seraph (as ROL pointed out) and Mr Wiggles. While reading, I noticed that all of Mr Wiggles posts are riddled with uncertainty, fear, and unwillingness to commit. He may be a newer player, but it still makes me very susicious of him. My vote goes on him for now He got roleblocked. No one counterclaimed, right? And while it's possible that mafia dodged their first roleblock to make GGQ seem more legitimate, combine this with his other posts, and it's very very very likely that GGQ is town.

I don't think Annul played properly and case in point he admits he's mafia before the day's news is published. Don't you guys want to see who RoL wants to suspect next before trying to kick him out? I guess the relevant people I'm talking to are medics, dt's and vigilantes for the night phase.
I mean, crazy ideas like RoL actually being mafia sounds so preposterous it might be true but it's definitely not 100%. I'm actually going to stand up for RoL because I can't comprehend him being mafia. Maybe it's my lack of imagination.
I'll suspect him if he starts using his credibility to make bad decisions like lynching no mafia for the rest of the game or bringing out more blue role claims. Well if RoL goes for me, he's mafia. I'll openly claim my role, if someone's willing to help me decide. How does someone going for you make them mafia? Barundar just added me to his suspects list, but I don't think he's mafia one little bit. Gotta love logic.
Anyway, conclusion: GGQ is 90% town to me.

EBWOP:
I forgot to state explicity the general theme of my analysis: GGQ called annul out/brought attention to annul WAY too much to be mafia. At least in my opinion, as a mafia, you don't call out your teammates, except maybe once or twice for the whole game (unless they're already a lost cause/getting bused). And the likelihood of annul getting bused this game is pretty low, because he was their godfather pick. It's a little extreme to throw that advantage away this early. So, the fact that GGQ was on annul's case early makes me think that he's town.

Day 4: Start
It was a long, cold night. Fortunately, there was a blizzard out, making the townspeople feel safe in their homes. After all, it would be impossible for the mafia to blaze through the 8 foot deep snow to kill people tonight, right?
GGQ sat at home, relaxing in front of the television while a large bonfire burned in the fireplace beside him. As the television was on full volume, he was unable to hear the noises above the house. But it was too late. From a helicopter above the roof, a large cloaked figure dropped two barrels of gasoline down GGQ's chimney before flying off into the gray clouds above. GGQ had no time to react as the house exploded unspectacularly and caved in due to all the snow surrounding it.
On the other side of town, LunarDestiny frantically paced back and forth, looking through all the notes from his hard work. Exhausted, he decided to go downstairs and drink the rest of the night away. When the mafioso arrived, he was shocked at what he found. Upon opening the door, LunarDestiny just sat there, purring and clawing away at the air before the mafioso decided to end this silliness by stabbing him in the chest and walking away, leaving the door open. LunarDestiny probably never noticed that he was dying, and continued to claw away at the air until he eventually froze to death.
Earlier this morning, analysts concluded that LunarDestiny died not from the knife wound, but from freezing to death.
GGQ the Townie is now dead. LunarDestiny the Townie is now dead.
It is now Day 4. Voting ends in 48 hours.

YES. I took a hit for town. Finally feel useful as a townie.

Ah, sorry I misread you, Meapak, but I didnt out live you long!
Good-bye and good luck, town.

What strategic value would it have if the dead mafia didn't flip red if hit by his team mates? What would you do if MBH says "I strongly believe that Ace, Chuiu, and LTT are all innocent. Furthermore, I think that Ver, Incognito, and Flamewheel are all mafia." and then immediately dies during the night and flips innocent? Wicked way to waste town resources/time.
|
hmm but how would that really waste time? I mean that is assuming that the town then does everything that MBH says and just because someone is confirmed innocent by death that doesn't mean by any stretch that all their opinions up until then are right. All it MIGHT do is if its a PM game, if a player was in contact with MBH they would be more likely to believe everything he said and not think they were being manipulated.
But I think killing your own red and him appearing red can be an awesome play on Day 3 to claim vigi. But as another note, It would be awesome to see that happen in a game where mafia used cover and hit one of their own guys to make him appear town In a game that I hosted I would have a cover + hit = town death considering its a waste of a lot of resources for a mafia.

I think you underestimate the analysis abilities of someone like MBH. You can switch Ver and MBH in my example if you like. Either way, players like that making claims like that will get attention and I can definitely see a town lynching based off those statements.
|
Its not that I underestimate the abilities, its just the town can barely plan out a day one lynch at a time, do you honestly expect them to follow what some guy said before he died for multiple days in a row? I think you have a point with there being a benefit to mafia flipping town when killed by their own, but I don't think its as fair reaching as you said. I think a fake vigi would be MUCH easier pulled off and way more detrimental to the town if utilized effectively.
|
Yeah, I've seen where someone notable like Ver dies and releases a list that sadly gets ignored.
With that said, lets not clutter up the game thread please
