In my eyes JD has to do something really, really extraordinary to knock Flash of the throne unless Flash fucks up in a Starleague. I mean, he hasn't been eliminated from one for like a year. So with a JD who loses absolutely critical PL games and shows relatively shaky play in the Starleagues I think the spot is safely his. JD's stats look great, but he's gotten to play 2 Bo3's vs mediocre opponents this month (which Flash didn't have to do because he reached the final last season). That helps with boosting the stats.

I'm quite mad at Bisu for failing all of a sudden. We were so close to getting a Top 3 with Flash, JD and Bisu.

Well Flash did fadoodle up in proleague last month.
And yeah Bisu, whats happening . If he manages to get his PvT good, than I think he has a chance at being top 5 in at least a future PR. If not... I won't be suprised if he doesn't even make it to ro4

Edit: Yay we broke 1000!!!!!!!!!

Guys, if the loss to Sea really was sufficient to undo Jaedong's performance over the last two months, then those two months can't have been good enough to earn him first place in the first place.

Fadoodling up in PL games that didn't even end up having any importance whatsoever should not have that much impact in my opinion. JD failed hard in the PL finals last year and let down his team. That didn't matter though. He was #1. Everyone still knew he was the top dog and would win a Bo5 in a Starleague vs anyone. Losing a Bo1 vs an opponent you haven't been able to practice specifically for isn't the biggest of deals when looking at the big picture. As long as Flash doesn't fuck up vs Violet I will get seriously angry if Plexa gets any hate for putting Flash at #1.

Maybe if Bisu goes 2-0 tomorrow in an epic way he can still be #3? Pretty please?

first of all he brought the team there
oz had no one in their team to help hiya contributed 1/3 of what he contributed now
u'r telling the facts that are convenient to your side of the story
he did win the osl finals by coming back from 0-2 vs the guy that beat him in the proleague
i'm not saying jaedong should be 2nd or 1st but that is a poor example and does not relate since no one was close to jaedong back than certainly not flash who went slumping
i say we dust off and nuke it from orbit

JDs loss to Kal didn't matter. And you dont know yet that his loss to Sea will eaither, so you just contradicted yourself...

KT was way way ahead. Just because they hadn't clinched #1 doesn't mean it was a close race. It was the end of the starleague season, and you have to think that Flash/KT were taking it fairly easy,

That's all you guys got to put down Flash. In spite of it, Flash still ended the season 10 wins over JD.

As meaningful games start being played, Flash clearly stands out again above JD.

That doesnt change the fact that for the month of June Flash went 5-6 (something conveniently not mentioned). He held on to the top spot after going 5-6 in professional games (including 3 ace matches). And yes I know that the power rankings arent just based on monthly results...and to that I would point out that Jaedong, by the months end, had passed Flash in ELO as well, which takes both quality of opponents and more than 30 days into consideration.

Dont get me wrong, what Flash has done this season is incredible and at times unprecedented. But does all the incredible play the last 8 months give him a total mulligan when he completely whiffs for an entire month? Would it have been such a hit to his legacy to have reflected this very obvious dip in his play in the power rankings? I dont think so.

The argument that Plexa makes is that Flash played so well in his losses that he was actually more impressive going 5-6 than Jaedong, who actually bothered to win almost all his games. To that the easy response is a win is a win. Jaedong wins sloppy all the time.

On June 30th, based on recent results, would you have actually picked Flash to beat Jaedong in a Bo5? I wouldnt have. I probably would right now. But not at that moment 30 days ago. Flash was playing poorly and was showing a weakened/fatigued mental state (evidenced by the ACE losses), and Jaedong...while definately not at his peak skill, was still performing better overall.

Okay, both sides need to shut up and realize that a loss is a loss. It doesn't matter if it matters or not, it's a loss. Saying this matters or that doesn't is just finding excuses for your favored player. Jaedong lost to Kal not because it doesn't matter, but because he got outplayed. His play that game was just sloppy. Then he lost to Sea because of sloppy play again. 2 days in a row shows his momentum might be declining, therefore he doesn't deserve #1 over Flash.
Flash lost those ace games also because he was outplayed. They were late-game TvTs which Flash shouldn't have lost. Saying he didn't care, they didn't matter, or it shouldn't count is just fanboyism.

In the run for 1-2: It's all going to come down to Flash vs Violet now. A clean 1-0 win for Flash will get him #1 again. A 0-2 loss should have him fall beneath JD. 1-1 resulting in Flash winning the series will cause massive arguments and fangirl nerdrage.

In the run for 3-4: I favor Effort as #3 right now. Bisu needs to convince me that his PvT is where it should be because from what I've seen it is not. That's not to say it sucks, just that it's not the S-class play we expect. Bisu could conceivably drop to 5 or 6 depending on how things go.

For ranks 5-6: I see Sea and Fantasy going here, depending a little bit on how the remaining games of the month turn out. Sea could potentially end up higher and Fantasy could potentially end up lower, but if I were deciding the ranking today, I'd put them here.

For ranks 7-8: I'd like to see Free and Stork go here. Free is the #1 Protoss ELO for a reason and anyone who questions him being on this PR hasn't been watching Starcraft lately. Stork has turned up the heat, but I'd probably leave him at #8 until I'm certain he's really back.

For ranks 9-10-CBNC: Hiya, Action, Roro, ForGG, Light and Best are my candidates.

With each passing day now, the ranking becomes more clear.

You act like he was 0-11, with nothing but trashy play. He got sniped in ace matches while enjoying post victory euphoria over his greatest rival. That doesn't bother me very much, especially since there was not a "very obvious dip in his play." His opponents had clearly studied very hard to beat him and had very carefully worked out their timings.

Don't cheat them of their victories by saying "Flash played like suck."

That you're willing to trash the hard work of these other players to make Flash look bad is rather telling. Let's face it: is it such a hit to Jaedong's legacy that he was "only" #2? Evidently you think it is.

Historical precedent sides with Plexa and I admire that he was willing to stick to his guns while knowing that fangirls would nerdrage at him. I reference the positions in the Power Rankings of Savior and NaDa around the time of their face-off in OSL.

If you don't think Sea will be top 5 you are forgetting 2 very key things.

1. This is Plexa.
2. He just beat Bisu and Jaedong quite convincingly.

sea should probably be #3, but he's actually had a pretty mediocre month except for his wins over bisu and JD. let's not forget that only 2 weeks ago JD RAPED him on fortress.

i cant morally put bisu over sea after being so convincingly beaten by him.

lol

edit- also I dont understand why everyone says JD played sloppy vs kal. I thought that series was very well-played by both players in all 3 games...

You apparently haven't seen JD's ZvP for the last 8 months or so. That is the sloppiest I've seen Jaedong play ZvP all year. Kal almost won because of Jaedong playing worse and him playing better.

Goes to show how far apart they were beforehand.

1- (Z)Jaedong with no problem
2- (T)Flash for going back after his 5 terran defeats
3- (T)Fantasy - qualified and this put him above (P)Bisu, despite losing against CJ (T)sKyHigh
4- (T)Sea - brilliant play, definitelly beat (P)Bisu (i hate him, not a fan but results speak)
5- (Z)EffOrt - strong games
6- (P)Bisu - is having a comeback but is so shaking against T.
7- (P)Stork -old dino have some moves
8- (T)fOrGG - qualified and strong results in SPL when (T)Flash did not played good.
9- (Z)Action - his defilers are better than JD but he should learn vs P
10- (T)Light - is above (T)HiyA for his team going playoffs.

CNBC: (T)HiyA, Best, (Z)RorO, (P)Pure, (P)Violet.
I have the ultimate answer, i seek the ultimate question

Sea over Bisu? Really? Where was Sea in his series against wemade, oh thats right, failing in his best matchup. I know Fantasy beat EffOrt to Win against CJ on Day 2, but Bisu is the ReaL ReasoNSKT is now the favorite to Win PL. Simply put, if Bisu was still slumping, CJ would have advanced.

1) (T)Flash
2) (Z)Jaedong
3) (P)Bisu
4) (T)Fantasy
5) (Z)EffOrt
6) (T)Sea

rest is to hard to call, but Best and Stork should probably be in there.
