Top: Idra, Dimaga, Sen Tier 2 (amazing players but shouldn't bother trying GSL just yet): Ret, TLO, Machine (after his MLG performance I include him among the better players), Haypro, Slush Rest are nothing special really.

Take TLO for example: Great player, very fun to watch, probably the worst person to learn from. While TLO has an innovative style, many of the things he does only make sense once you've really become a good player. For someone who is still struggling with spreading creep watching TLO is probably the worst thing you can do. On the other hand, if you're looking for someone doing something different, or cool, definitely a good place to start. I think Ret also falls into this category of amazing players which are tons of fun to watch, but hard to learn from. Why does Ret choose 4 Roaches as the moment to cut all gas and drone production? He has well defined timing pushes and really has a good feel for his race, but until you're really 1500+ Diamond, probably not that helpful. By comparison I think a player who is really good to learn from is Machine. Machine plays a very Macro oriented style, but he does it with precision. He doesn't miss an opportunity to expand, he never wastes larva he would rather spend on drones, he does a phenomenal job with the basics. Not the most interesting player, but very informative to watch. So I guess it comes down to, are you trying to be entertained? or to learn something?

Just on the top 200 there are far better zergs than TLO or Dimaga... Idra, Slush, Sheth, Dhalism come to mind.
