If you want to learn how to play Zerg, IdrA is who you want to watch. Having a rock-solid foundation from IdrA will open your options up to really benefit from more dynamic Zergs.

Now it's Idra but his ZvZ is a little behind. If he improves this matchup, he could compete with koreans.
He is rarely outplayed in a macro game vs Terran or Protoss.

Back in beta it used to be Sen, but his new style of play seems less effective. I think he is less scary now.

In order to objectively* determine who's the 'best' non-korean zerg one must first pick a criteria in which the available player pool must be judged, with the restriction that the particular criteria is most precise in determining overall value of the player. Since "global ELO"(a most rational choice for such criteria) for sc2 does not exist, one must pick another.

Personally, next closest criteria I can think of would be an overall tournament performance, with varying weights placed on each tournament(where "overall difficulty to win or advance as far as possible"** determines the weight of each one). With such criteria in mind the winner is Idra.

However if one picks different criteria, such as "entertainment value", "creativity", "consistency",or others, then best non-Korean zerg might just as well be MadFrog, or any mentioned above.

*- or at least come as close as possible to being purely objective)

** - a lot of variables could be included such as size, prize pool, difficulty of opponents, etc

Oh, I thought this was an unofficial IdrA-fanclub when I read the threadname. Anyway, it's IdrA for sure at the moment, ret and Sen are both great zergs as well (TLO - honorable mention), however I feel these player lack the devotion _compared_ to IdrA. With that said, IdrA will continue to sit firmly on his nr.1 nonkorean zerg spot for a while.

Madfrog is really fun to watch, and quite good.

Add that to what else the thread suggested, I didnt see madfriog.

I like his odd style..

Right now: Idra is the best zerg.
When TLO finds his inner zerg again, he'll overthrow Idra.
When ret irons out his weaknesses, he'll overthrow TLO.
When morrow has relearned sc2 from a zerg perspective, he'll overthrow ret.

As far as who to learn from:
Firstly: Learn to play very basic and solid while getting your mechanics and macro up from idra.
Secondly: Learn the tao of zerg, like creep spread, map presence and when to expand from ret.
Lastly: Get entirely new perspectives on zerg from TLO.

Idra and Sen comes to my mind. Dimaga is probably up there too

Don't think TLO is really up there though considering he just switched.
I astonish myself everyday

I think the more interesting discussion is who is the best North American zerg (Idra not included obviously....he's KOREAN now). There are obviously good NA zergs but they aren't nearly as dominant or successful as Korean or European zergs so it'd be interesting to see who people think are the top NA zergs.

Is this thread seriously going to live, seems like the most useless thread ever.

Gracken is as solid as a zerg can get, GSL 3 times in a row like that?
His only weakness playing against is super unorthodox stuff, he said that himself didn´t he?

Well, a lot of zergs have qualified for gsl3, with many of them being foreigners. So you will have a ton to watch here soon. Sen even streams from time to time, so that would be another great option. Right now in my opinion Sen is probably pretty close to being the top zerg. I believe the hype around Ret to be accurate though, but haven't seen much of his play, I hope I will get to see a lot of games from him in the gsl.
