MBCGame to shut down? - Page 19

Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it.

BW is kind of ugly to the untrained eye, it would be a hard sell to an audience that knows nothing about it.

No. More like Gom doesn't have the finances to do so.

I'm sure that is a huge factor, but putting BW side by side to any game today and expecting someone who knows very little about it to enjoy it is a stretch. That game itself may have depth to keep you coming back for more after you understand what going on, but it lost its hook.

This is not true in Korea. Viewership ratings isn't the reason why MBC channel might be closing down.

But it's JUST Korea.

Nothing but sad faces in the thread, but I am actually happy with this. Sorry for all the people who enjoyed it, but this sounds like good news for SC2, which is the only esports I care about. Contracts running out, one of the 2 big tournaments wrapping up, let's finally have some true champions in the GSL!

Weathers been shitty for the past couple days. Being completely overworked. Ordered two sandwiches but only got one and couldn't get a second one because I lost the receipt. Being stalked by a midget lady. And now the MSL is on its last leg.

I feel like shit right now.

Even if BW dies I'll still play it. I love the game. And I'm sure you do too... This news makes me sad. But its bound to happen sooner or later. I have no regrets Switching from SC2 to BW. Though I would really love the game to last for a few more years. If only I played BW sooner. Its sad.... I'm just so sad...

*Sigh* I'm thinking crazy thoughts now.

Honestly, it's hard to say what's going to happen in the next few months. The thisisgame article came out because MBC staff started dropping "hints" on twitter so some parts of the article are speculation.

I hope these kids know that death of BW will lead to the death of SC2 and the death of Esports in general. What kind of company would like to invest into a sport which shows that it can't last past ten years?

I think MBCGame also broadcasts Special Force League, Sudden Attack, Dungeon & Fighter, and various BW-related programs like @Play and BNet Attack. They broadcast a lot of various game programs here and there.

That's truly rude in case you didn't realize, it's like someone of your relatives passed away and I say that's great, the only thing I care about is you anyway.

nor would it want to rofl. Why help out the game that's most directly competing with the one its heavily invested too ;l

That and Gom probably isn't the biggest fan of kespa after they destroyed their BW tournament in 2009. I can't imagine that they would want to get in bed with the same people who cut them down just a couple of years ago.

How I remember things was that KeSPA actually gave its seal of approval to the GOM Classic during Season 2, but Season 3 saw the withdrawl of several teams from the tournament due to concerns over their A-teamers' workload (thats when KeSPA withdrew its seal of approval due to not all teams participating). Season 4 never happened because like half or less than half of the progaming teams were interested in participating. So I never really saw how KeSPA killed off GOM, but it was the teams that did instead (If there are sources to prove me wrong, please do link me).
