Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it. |

*Sigh* I'm thinking crazy thoughts now. Honestly, it's hard to say what's going to happen in the next few months. The thisisgame article came out because MBC staff started dropping "hints" on twitter so some parts of the article are speculation. Yeah, I'm really hoping that this is all a huge exaggeration and everything ends on a better note... This is like a nightmare for BW fans right now, but hopefully not reality.

MBCGame has been huge for Tekken Crash.
And believe it or not, Tekken is pretty huge in Korea. Walk into arcade, no.1 game among frequent visitors: Tekken 6 BR.

When are the BW contracts up? Sometime in August, correct?
That will be a big moment for BW. I really hope that the players stand behind BW, KESPA, etc. and at least try for another year. It's too soon to end.

GomTV should start a SC:BW tournament in response to this and have English commentators. If a little effort was put into the foreign community SC:BW would get a lot more registered/paying viewers. BW is kind of ugly to the untrained eye, it would be a hard sell to an audience that knows nothing about it. No. More like Gom doesn't have the finances to do so. I'm sure that is a huge factor, but putting BW side by side to any game today and expecting someone who knows very little about it to enjoy it is a stretch. That game itself may have depth to keep you coming back for more after you understand what going on, but it lost its hook. This is not true in Korea. Viewership ratings isn't the reason why MBC channel might be closing down. But it's JUST Korea. Nothing but sad faces in the thread, but I am actually happy with this. Sorry for all the people who enjoyed it, but this sounds like good news for SC2, which is the only esports I care about. BW DEAD NOW??? SC2>BW?? Its so goddamn annoying. The "community" is pretty much sc2 now, let this stuff go in BW section where people won't post stupid garbage.
That hurts... A lot of people still like BW and not just SC2...
In the harmony of how SC:BW and SC2 acts you should just say gg, and not name call.

Well, if it does turn out to be just an exaggeration, then what else could it mean?

Please nooooooo !! If only some other channel could take over. Here's hoping that something works out so that MSL can continue in one form or another.
|
Why did i believe this was forever? wow, I am so shocked, upset and sad.
|
When one door closes another one opens.
I mean, one can hope that it only means that a new station will take MBC's place, that a new starleague will rise to continue where MSL left. Starting a completely new starleague from scratch is unlikely at this point but if a new broadcaster can take over the MSL crew, studios, equipment etc. it could be a good chance for a new station to enter the scene.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP, this is so sad.

Well done mods! Anyway, what terrible news to hear. Makes you wonder how much longer OGN is gonna last... Bah.
On another note, let's go Bisu! Fighting! This may be your last chance to win another gold... (we all know how you do in the OSLs...)
|
Does anyone know if this "Anibox" station shows any BW at all?
|
Devastated T.T Huge blow to the scene, how is the OSL meant to look prestigious without the MSL??
