I think moderators should institute a policy of just handing out a ban as soon as it's asked for without reading the rest of the post and to ensure that the appropriately asked for ban is given. So this guy would just flat out get a permanent ban. I think this style of martyring is still subverting the rules of this forum. Considering his post, he may just be stupid enough to think that he was in the right because the moderator gave him leeway by only giving him a temporary ban.

It's pretty harsh to perm ban everyone who says "I will be banned for this." It's not an official rule written down anywhere, it's just common sense and a trial by fire kind of rule.

Don't be a drama queen martyr. TeamLiquid isn't colonial America or Tienanmen Square. You do not need to preemptively declare "I'm going to be banned for this..." or "ban me, I don't care." Our Moderators ban for good reasons. If they read someone acting like a martyr, they'll simply treat it as a request to be banned.

I know it's harsh, but it's more specific to the example I quoted, which isn't an average martyring post in my opinion. To me that post read like this:
I am declaring some hypotheses. Based on those hypotheses I feel obligated to start cursing at you, but I will preface it by saying that I understand the risk of being permanently banned in doing so. I am now cursing you out. I know what I just said was offensive but I'm hoping the moderator agrees with me so they think, "Oh hey this guy is right, so even though his post deserves a permanent ban I will only give him a temporary ban."
Bear in mind that this is what I assume he's thinking in his (skewed) point of view of the site moderation. I don't think his post really deserves a permanent ban even if you remove the martyring. It just bothers me that someone would actually proceed to post something that they think deserves a permanent ban and hope that they only get a temporary one.
