That post he got banned for sounded like something a text generator would come up with after you fed the script of one of those Zeitgeist internet movies from 12, 13 years ago into it

hopefully you don't end up scarred for life and need therapy like some people who do content review for a living.

Is this from something I don't follow, like Canadian politics or Euro politics threads? He beefs with a lot of people, and went overboard in the past, but I didn't see anything beyond warnable lately.

The dude does beef quite a lot. I guess the strange favoritism he had from moderation is finally starting to fade, given that this looks like a string of fairly recent bans.

I think it was the GH-JimmiC holy wars/string of warns/bans that added to his rap sheet and formed the foundation to whatever just happened. Nazis in Canada seems like a ridiculous scene to go out on. Though I see he was against somebody who did call out "Canadians who pretend they're liberal and enlightened," and went after Canadian monuments, so that had to have been grating.
And calling somebody a PBU out of nowhere? Is this JohnDelaney guy not legit, or did he just strike a nerve and get an unthinking, reactionary retort?
It never really crosses my mind to think somebody that said what that guy did was secretly a PBU.

May not have been banned from this site (yet), but he has clearly been banned from other sites before - that's the message I got at least, and given the way he argues, I wouldn't be surprised.

I can't say what the mod notes look like, but several of his bans weren't in the abl/were scrubbed and warnings were through PM so his rap sheet may not be very long.
Mod team is currently discussing JimmiC’s ban. He was not banned from the thread, he was banned site-wide. It was also not a shadow ban. The mod just forgot to check the box that sends it to the ABL.

Looks kind of like the other feller was talking the issue (albeit an ugly one), whereas JimmiC went straight for the personal attacks. Interesting to see him in a "can dish it out but can't take it" scenario when talking controversial topics. Jimmy certainly has dished it out on more than a couple occasions.

A shadow ban is just hiding a user's posts from everyone else so they don't know they are banned, and everyone else just thinks that person stopped posting. We don't do shadow bans.

I used that phrase without knowing it has a specific definition, I’m glad TL doesn’t do that
did JimmiC even read the article. He says he doesn't live near Ottawa. Welp, it was published by the Ottawa Citizen, however, this is not where the alleged crime took place. Supposedly the vandalism occurred in Halton. So we're talking Milton and Oakville.
Nazis in Milton? The only Nazi activity I've experienced in Milton lately has been "Soup Nazi" type activity. When I go to McD's in Miltion I get told by employees exactly where to stand. They have spots on the floor and they are extremely vigilant about what I'm doing when in the restaurant. It kinda reminds me of the "Soup Nazi". For whatever reason, the restaurants in neighbouring places like Mississauga and Etobicoke are not nearly as strict.
I guess this is a case of life imitating art.
Here is the "Soup Nazi".
This is what its like ordering food at Mcdonald's in Milton these days. Just like in the episode shown when I enter I must immediately walk to the right. When exiting the store there is also an exact path I must take. Employees enforce this pretty hard core.

Any sufficiently cool-sounding technical term will inevitably take on broader and broader meanings among laypeople, no matter how much the professionals insist on the narrow definition. Like 1% of the times I’ve heard people say “zero-point energy” had anything to do with zero-point energy. “Fruit of the poisonous tree” has been a similar phenomenon in law recently, I think.
