Not to nitpick too much, but weren't your recent actions in the thread just meaningless +1's and preemptive ends to discussions? I'm all for discussions (met on equal sarcasm and tone), but seriously, you were one of the people planning not to have a conversation.

You probably don't know this, but barring the mods and perhaps cricketer12, every single person in the previous page is a frequent poster in the US pol thread. Just a heads up, so don't be too suprised when you don't find a favourable reaction when calling just about every single person in this thread as not normal sane people but as disturbed, obsessed people. :D

At least in the one thread he kept his cool pretty decently. Until he started making veiled threats about how someone who was victimized by accusations of Nazism may shoot up tl headquarters so people better not call him a Nazi anymore because someone crazy who was called a Nazi (but not him) might flip out.

I know that's not really part of the ban reason but it is part of the quoted post. + Show Spoiler + Rob Capriccioso, citizen of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians, and Washington D.C. Bureau Chief for Indian Country Today writes: "I bristle when I hear the phrase because many of the people who use it nonchalantly have likely never thought about its origin, nor have they probably ever visited a reservation." "It's not about political correctness, either, it's about helping the majority realize that there is a minority point-of-view that holds weight that the majority is giving too little credence. To me, there are indeed many more offensive words involving American Indians than this phrase — including the name of the Washington football team — but I believe it is the common use of phrases like 'off the reservation' that allows people to end up being comfortable going further — to the point of using a slur to name a football team that supposedly honors Indians, but not realizing that it is actually a slur." fwiw it's something I've pointed out to him before, can't remember if he ever acknowledged/read it though.

He plays a game of being deliberately obtuse and ignorant that makes me want to hammer him with the point until he gets it. You could catch him daubing a swastika on a synagogue and he’d insist that he was unaware that there was any meaning other than as a Hindu good luck sign, and then argue it for days. We did this dance with the fourteen words etc. I really should stop letting myself get drawn into it at all, it’s just the endless insistence that he doesn’t get why it’s a problem triggers the fuck out of me.
