One idea might be to have a Political News thread and another thread geared more towards political/philosophical principles.
I don't think this forum and Trump as president can do better. Even assuming tight moderation. The surrounding political landscape is more filled with haranguing, beration, and slurs than ever. A left-leaning to left-wing forum will generally be reflective of the surrounding atmosphere.
Even saying that I'm wrong and there's a solution to the state of center/right-of-center posters in US Politics thread, your solution is hardly a solution. Current events will lead to worldview discussions. Worldview discussions will lead to evidence in favor and opposed to worldviews. Go make a thread in website feedback with better suggestions and cite evidence for your points.
