I think you can be forgiven. It's not an obvious connection unless the only woman hating that matters to you involves American murderers.
Maybe it was a bad joke, maybe it was an offensive joke, but I don't get why its an ok joke after Boko Haram kidnap hundreds of school girls to stop them getting an education but definitely isn't ok after Elliot Rodgers' shooting spree. Would it have been an ok comment again in a week? A month? When do blunt, ironic comments highlighting a thread heaving misogyny become justified again?
Maybe it's a small point, but I'm annoyed as it seems to me that singling my comment out in that particular thread, for that particular reason was... Bizarre.

Not singling you out. The thread was necroed so it was going to be closed anyway because the entire thing was a piece of shit. Your comment was one of many that I could have quoted. I am not going to sit there for thirty minutes and craft a quote list though. I get the ironic angle of it, but you know that doesn't translate well on the internet for everyone.
And the whole "other people do bad things" argument is terrible. Please don't make it. Inaction isn't endorsement. Just because other people speed, doesn't mean you dont get a ticket.
