I was thinking that Barrin lost his banling status because he did something bad - if it was because he lost his position due to new mod recruitments I could see why he is bitter, who wouldn't be? Barrin was demoted due to inactivity despite being active on the forums. Can you go into a little more detail or would I be pushing it to ask that of you? Maybe I'm too tired right now but I don't exactly understand what this means, concretely. :/ It means he wasn't doing his banling duty and yet was still posting frequently. Hmm... Still, what exactly does that entail? Because if it's about bans, I can think of some others that very rarely ban someone, so I don't think it's that simple. And then, there's industrious fellows like Kadaver and GMarshal (when he used to go on banning sprees in LR threads) who seem to snatch almost every mod action. That said there's most likely more to it than what's immediately apparent, which is why I asked in the first place. :/ It was very much a general staff inactivity (i.e. not really participating in staff discussion) as well as the fact that unlike most banlings he was responsible for looking after a sub-community within TL (mapping community). We look at more than just bans when making these decisions But if he was active just not as his job, couldn't you, say, put him on probation and give another banling the responsibility while seeing if Barron could do fine as a vanilla? And then take that away if he can't meet even that responsibility? Just seems a bit harsh from my perspective, but it's not my place to judge in the end. What makes you think they didn't try something like that?

The fact he wasn't really engaging with the staff lead us to believe that he was not a good fit for a vanilla banling. This wasn't something where Barrin had gone afk for a month, he had been on and off forum activity for the better part of a year or so with little moderation done for around the same amount of time (probably longer). Out of respect for Barrin, I think that's all that should be said on the matter. Anything more would probably lead people to conclude that I'm trying to drag his name through the mud or make him look like a bad person. And as I've said before, during the time he was active he did a lot of good work and I do respect his contributions on that front.

The bad will fall, and the good will rise. God this guy was awful. This has been one of the first LR threads I actively took part in, and the symbol hate went straight through the roof. Can't believe the legends were actually true.
This LR thread was a bit special. I was "rooting" for innovation because after seeing soulkey vs innovation in PL I thought this would be a waaaay better final than a ZvZ, but I wanted symbol to grab some win to shut some mouth. While Innovation was the better player, I think many people were dissmissed symbol (a crowned "most consistent player in GSL" for the last year), and I was a bit infuriated that when Innovation was building a depolt in his main you get a lot of "innovation is outplaying symbol so hard right now".
Hopefully not all LR thread are like that, and the final LR thread should be good, and without too much whine.
Was pretty happy with the result .
