Even then that's not communism. An ideological communist can, by definition, not work within the established political system, it's a revolutionary ideology. A socialist would be more arguable, although socialists are committed to state ownership of the means of production which is not part of Obama's platform, but certainly not a communist. I am very skeptical about whether people, particularly Americans, even know what these words mean, particularly when they're used interchangeably despite having very different meanings. Very few countries are run on socialist principles. Phrases like "a strong support for public education" do not make the case for a socialist unless "strong support for public defence" also qualifies, and certainly not communist. Many people from across the political spectrum believe some things are better managed by the state for reasons outside of ending the exploitation of the working class by their managers and financiers. I'm sure you can come up with a great many good reasons why some things should be operated by the state for the good of the nation without involving class struggle, a lot of people typically characterised as socialists are no different to you.

You may be right; it just always seemed to me that a lot of posters chose random famous smart people (especially philosophers) as their names. I found fewer than expected and only two German posters for Austrian/German philosophers:
Nietzsche, Friedrich Nietzsche, Hegel, Wittgenstein, Habermas.
You can probably assume a half dozen more for 'Nietzsche' misspellings. No Frege
