This thread is for discussing recent bans. Don't discuss other topics here.

Take it to website feedback if you disagree with a ban or want to raise an issue.

Keep it civil.

NOTE: For those of you who want to find the actual ABL thread where the bans are posted. Please look in here: https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/

StevenWang was just temp banned for 1 week by GMarshal.

That account was created on 2012-12-30 04:38:54 and had 27 posts.

Reason: I asked you in the thread to take it to website feedback.

I warned you to take it to website feedback in PMs.

You ignored me, so now you can't argue about it.

Also interesting how if you update that report from the one he posted, it more than halves the "estimated worth," of TL today. Seems legit.

It's kind of stupid arguing that people are being treated unfairly when the people you are talking about are doing it completely willingly and aren't being forced. Also weird that the two people who were complaining about it being a voluntary position both had <30 posts and thus haven't really contributed anything to tl themselves.

Not really. I'm in the same boat and so are my close friends and considering how you can't sell a DotA 2 key anymore this must surely mean that pretty much everyone has one.

Oh and lol at that guy who was trying to portray TL as some ruthless company that makes massive profit off the back of exploiting volunteers or whatever. Seriously? lol

StephenWang was clearly banned for his legitimate position, challenging the eSports business status quo. Clearly TL, EG, and /r/starcraft are all on par with many major retailers in terms of their exploitation of the community from which they draw their massive revenues. /sarcasm.

It is, since if you take what he's saying at face value, then he's correct. But of course if you clicked on a few of his links you'd see that he's heavily distorting his 'facts'.

The very first link I clicked from the DoL website was a survey to find out if you're business is exempt from these rules and the very first question was: over 500k yearly revenue. So unless Nazgul is secretly raking it in, I highly doubt TL has to follow these volunteer rules.

There are plenty of other exemptions that TL might match too (I couldn't be bothered checking them all) and you could probably even argue that the purpose of TLpedia is for people to add information and thus they aren't employees but users, ect.

Actually, the funniest part was the worth of web link he provided. For fun I punched in the website for my company - which does no advertising mind you - and it had us doing millions of dollars a year in advertising revenue (it's in the fine print: it multiplies traffic X guestimated cpm).

So ya, worthofweb like all the other web traffic sites is pulling numbers out of their ass.

Well, I'd say that between TL and TLpro they COULD be pulling in 500K a year, but as far as I know TLpro is separate from TL and TL itself (which is what I assume TLPD is associated with) i would assume is nowhere near that figure.

Either way the guy ended up out of line, although its reasonable for him to speak up and say he thinks TL should pay people. I disagree with him, but he can have his opinions. Just not expressed like that...

Note that the ban was apparently for the crap about 'I won't give sources' rather than for bomb discussion.

Also, discussing whether or not nuclear warheads were justified in Japan is not a big leap from whether from current events. I'll be impressed when you find a thread arguing about who is the best strategist in game of thrones turning into a japan-bomb argument.
