I find it's perfectly useful for admitting one's own mistakes "derp, I screwed up" / "I derped" and not really offensive or annoying when used like that. Other uses of it very quickly cross into the realm of stop doing that and talk like a person. (Which is probably why ETT and others dislike it. When people can't be bothered to express themselves in complete sentences or even sensible fragments, it's really annoying.) | ||
