You can say what you will about Scarlett, internally, but TL has made their stance clear about what is acceptable to post about Scarlett or her gender for well over a year, so to post anything to the contrary is not even tempting fate; it's a guaranteed ban. And yes, they're even all over pronouns used to talk about Scarlett, even posts of praise using "he" "him" "his" get you banned because it is assumed that someone is taking some kind of stealth-shot, or is trolling. Regardless of the nature of the policy, rules are rules, and I'm actually getting pretty tired of bans related to Scarlett because should just know better by now.

I would actually consider these bans to be quite silly and unwarranted. Lots of transgendered people are fine with being called what ever the other person prefers as long as there's some mutual understanding. But if it's to keep out the horrible hate I guess it's warranted.

I only sought to stress that when posting on TL, you must play by TL's rules, or take it to the Website Feedback, which ultimately accomplishes nothing, but it does provide a nice safe outlet for grievances.

to be honest i agree, scarlett bans are pretty unwarranted and stupid, she is both a guy and a girl, hence transgender, whats wrong with calling her either?? its better if called a girl because she wants to be known as a girl but really, i think the bans are not needed

They are a cornerstone of uhhhh "ESPORTS" and cannot be seen as tolerating transgender discrimination, or jointly cannot be seen as sexist, to the point where it cannot even be discussed. Scarlett identifies herself as a girl and that is ultimately the bottom line.

I believe he means he can understand why SeeKeR was temp'd, not SeeKeR posting that poll.
He is one of the more lovable rulebreakers, with frequent all caps, those polls, but his enthusiasm is rather infectious and he does all that translation work.

do bans by request have any weight in future moderation?

Yet, both of the posts are still not reported, so you are clearly failing it.

I don't remember specifically but if you request a ban for the "nth time" and n=eleventy billion like it is for him, I can imagine that happening
But yeah if you only request bans like a normal person I dont think theres much to worry about

I don't remember that either but I do think he was publicly warned in this thread to stop doing it or he'll face a big ban. Either way I would not be surprised lol.

There was also a Spanish guy who refused to acknowledge that people from North America split the "American" continent into two continents, so we have seven continents instead of six. North/South America, Asia, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Antarctica.
Most LRs are pits, sure, but that one got out of control quickly. Surprised more bans didn't come from it. Most were from when people strayed far off topic, like when Scarlett was brought up for some reason.

It's not entirely correct but it's fairly accurate for the most part. I wish more discerning could be done between repugnant bile-filled comments (of which we've been getting far less lately) and people just stating hard facts with basis in reality (in this case, Scarlett's biological features). I agree, sometimes it's beside the topic and sometimes it's not articulated that well, but we should at least allow the discussion to take place and not neuter it for the sake of "political correctness". I mean "this is our house" and all but honestly I think a little bit more leeway for the reasonable posters would go a long way. Plus the shit posters are going to come out anyway, the question is do you want to deal with them sooner or later?
Anyway I noticed this rant started losing its coherence so I'm going to stop here.

I just read "failsafe's" ban and quote. Here's my proposal for a ban requirement.
If the banning moderator cannot come up with a funnier ban description than the quoted reason for the ban. The poster may not be banned.
Funny stuff.

I would generally agree with that, if not for the fact that it is impossible to accurately and objectively determine "funny" in every case. Say we're watching a ZvT and some guy decides to post "Rofl I bet those banelings screamed Allahu Ackbar before they rammed into that Planetary Fortress hurr durr". I'm gonna bet a lot of forumgoers will be offended by that, while other people will respond with a genuine chuckle. Whose opinion do you pick with regards to whether its funny or not? The majority's? Then you're going to get even more complaints about unfair moderation in Website Feedback.
It really opens up a brand new can of worms. >_<
