So many ragers and idiots are now gone permanently. I guess that is one thing to be thankful for. Although I think a lot of the perms were for people who registered just to post shit in those threads.

My english is not so great, but I thought he was just making a point on how the brain perceives different people. I don;'t beleive he was trying to be racist. I dont think he was actually comparing black people to poison snakes lol

I think it was in a different thread than this one.

It was rather obvious. well, he seemed to be making a point that stereotypes are there for a reason, and although we might not like the thought that they are there (and potentially inaccurate), we are still going to act on them in our real lives. thus, my reference to the crash movie. in the movie, ludacris was complaining about people acting on stereotypes (being afraid of him as a black male), but it turned out the stereotype was completely accurate (as he proceeded to car jack them with guns). i am not sure his post by itself was banworthy, but i don't have his mod history and i only read one of his posts (not the thread), so i wont comment beyond that.

It would be really interesting to see the ratio of new members per week : bans per week, as a running average.

It's still a clusterfuck though, lol. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=108269¤tpage=2#24 It only shows users with 2+ bans since the list would be stupidly massive otherwise. Since there's no easy way to quantify what a "prominent member" is, I can't really single them out in the list anyway. The only things I have to work with in this data are join date and post count, after all. Regardless, I've abandoned that section of my program since I can't track users across multiple accounts and it's not that unusual to have one or two bans anyway. That some permabanned users were occasionally unbanned didn't really help matters either, since I have no way to tell that.

Can't give you examples but I think I remember some. lol General Forum has gotten 100x better since the great Kwark crackdown. The US presidential elections thread has actually been pretty civil and has resulted in some pretty good discussion. If Kwark and the other mods keep it up, we may actually have a decent General Forum... Problem is some people are still using General Forum as a dumping ground to let out their rage/outrage/indignation over random news stories which result in just terrible threads. That stuff belongs in blogs, it ain't worthy of a discussion thread in General. Ragoo was just temp banned for 1 week by EvilTeletubby. That account was created on 2010-03-02 03:30:19 and had 1851 posts. He was a pretty nice mapmaker, though. Shame he decided to do something that stupid.
