If Liquipedia 2 has taught us anything, it's that tournament coverage is one of the strongest points of the Wikipedia. Unlike an R&S kept by one person, anyone can keep a wiki up-to-date. Unlike TLPD, wiki has visuals to explain the format and matches and their VODs can be orchestrated around that. Unlike having to search for TL's newsposts on the league, the wiki can link them all centrally. And on top of that, the wiki always has room for improvement - be it adding in the Music Scores used for the MBC Starleagues, documenting all the team line-ups through a seaon of Proleague, or recommending excellent games that wrote history - the wiki has a place for it.
Taking this into consideration, Liquipedia:BW needs a lot of work as many leagues are incomplete or unrecorded entirely. Recently we've started to right this wrong, but, with such a vast history and a ton of tournaments and games ahead of us, we need help. Liquipedia is therefore looking for a:
BroodWar Historian
Together with several other editors you will be working towards making Liquipedia:BW the ultimate resource for BroodWar tournament history. You'll be working towards creating pages for every OSL, MSL, Proleague, WCG, STX Cup and more.
You:
- Love BroodWar
- Have knowledge of BroodWar's history OR are eager to find out about it
- Don't mind spending some time crunching through a list of copy/pastes
- Are not afraid of editing Liquipedia.
- Are independent and (a bit) creative.
In your job, you will:
- Use TLPD in combination with TeamLiquid's R&S topics, LR topics and Small VOD thread to explore leagues of the past.
- Learn (step by step) how to work with Liquipedia.
- Compile your data into the relevant Liquipedia articles.
- Go out of your way to add that extra bit of content that makes a good article an excellent article.
In return, you will:
- EARN COINS!
- That's actually all we can offer: imaginary shinies. You're doing this because you love this game and want to contribute to enabling future generations to find out about its legendary history. It is a huge project and I don't know how far we can go, but if nothing else, I promise you the end result will be something to be proud of.
To apply for this please contact Pholon through PM or Quakenet IRC #Liquipedia. Please include:
- Broodwar history - How long have you been following the scene, how long have you been on TL.
- Area of interest. Would you rather work on MSL, WCG or PL articles. Do you have a favourite tournament of all time.
- Experience with wikicoding and/or any coding in general.
- Contact info, preferably IRC
Together we will work out your interests and skills and find you a place to start. Since many hands make light work we'll be accepting multiple applications.
Personally, I believe that with a bit of effort we can truly make this project worth its while and flabbergast every one in a month of two with a monumental record of Starcraft:Broodwar history. I look foward to working with you all

I love Pholon ): <3
Unfortunately, my understanding of BW is very low. Is there a way to contribute without applying?
|
wow from more noobish point of view its very hard to go into old LR threads(like >2006) they are kinda empty -_- compared to nowadays coverage. If im understanding right there would be pages on wiki for old tournaments so you can relive it again? awesome idea
I cannot emphasize enough how good project idea it is, sometimes i feel like checking more old-ish stuff but i find that sometimes "vods only" are kinda void, that would completely remedy this problem with getting all the backround information back @ the time it was happening.
GOOD LUCK!
|
Wow I'll definitely apply
|
In return, you will gain my respect, and i'm sure i'm not alone!
Thank you whoever will be doing this and thanks to Pholon & Liquipedia crew.

Brood War Historian sounds depressing for some reason...
Would prefer it called 'archivist' or something less past tense.
|
Is there any way to help with Liquipedia without extensive knowledge of coding or something involving Starcraft 2?
|
Isn't Harem all you need?

Curator?

TL coins are actually worth more than KeSPA ranking points, so getting this job will automatically qualify you for the next OSL
|
Sorry Pholon I have failed you. + Show Spoiler +Did not think I'd have so much work this year, plus internet problems. I'll let you kow if I get more time on my hands. Much love to you =)

Or...Badass Brood War Supporter with giant cock?

Played BW for 12 years. Cant wait for all the incoming content.
|
sounds awesome, pretty cool to help keep BW history alive
|
I would love to do this myself, but I don't see myself dedicating a ton of hours on this, so I'll refrain D=
Best of luck and thanks in advance to whoever decides to take up this monumental and meaningful task!
|
Can it be money instead of "COINS"
|
Support this 100%, everyone who contributes should be publicly commended.
|
Good luck to whoever decides to take up this task, it's quite the daunting prospect.
|
Pholon. What are the time commitments like. like how many hours worth of work can be generally expected per week.
Cause it sounds like a lot of fun. But I'm not sure if I have the time or not.

I's say Preserver, because if you've read any of the Dark Templar Saga books, you'll meet some Protoss who keep the Protoss history in their heads, sort of, and they are called Preservers.
