I don't disagree. The IGN team has been the most dependable and impressive so far. They are the only tournament organizer I would be comfortable giving a large amount of money to ( if I was a sponsor).

Two more weeks. Then all hell breaks loose. Let's hope IGN executes their first event well. Do better than at least NASL and people will love you haha.

Well, presumably IPL 3 paid to have that countdown timer put there if it is sponsored as suggested in the OP.

Anyway, here's what was happening behind the scenes that caused that linking mishap in the OP. ![]()

9/16 Koreans in the groups, here's hoping we'll see good people coming up from the Open Bracket.

All 16 players get slotted into a single elim tournament, all that a good pool play record will get you is a better seed? At least in MLG doing good in pool play means less matches to win later.. Well, the way I see it is that you wouldn't want to leave anything up to chance in a 100.000 dollar tournament. You take every little advantage you can get - including a higher seed if possible. So even though it's non-elimination, players will hopefully give it their all to get that advantage that could be decisive in the end.

The invited players are big names apparently, as otherwise I'd not invite WhiteRa, Ret, Idra, MC or BoxeR. What am I saying? There are stronger players than all of these...Mana is stronger than WhiteRa, heck HasuObs too tbh; Ret isn't even top 5 foreign zerg; Idra slumping for months hasn't won anything and instead stomped by NA players (used to be other way round ![]() You get it now?

That's pretty damn spiffy even if you get properly crushed in the championship bracket. And every invite automatically gets $1000 to help defray travel costs. IPL is off to a good start! pretty sure all invites + qualified players get all expenses paid (travel + hotel)

Another thing that bothers me is why didn't IGN invited the both runner-ups from their previous tournaments (Kiwikaki and Nerchio) and decided to randomly invite players like MC and Boxer that never participated in the events. There are other oddities like the invitations of Huk and Boxer (I guess we can understand this one). This does not reward the history and commitment of the players with the event. Because what IPL, and any other serious tournament for that matter, really cares about is viewership. Thats why they invite people who will give them many viewers, people like MC and Boxer. Nerchio and Kiwikaki, while both are excellent players, don't have the same crowd appeal as the emperor and the former President.

Seems like TL is the official community forum for NASL and IPL now which is dope... I mean it's awesome that TL got the gig, but does anyone know what happened there? I thought Well Played did all the graphics and everything for the first season of IPL? Or am I confused? WP was doing the graphics and stuff for IPL S1 but after that season IPL decided to internalize everything and got their own staff for everything. NASL I never really got in the first place what the point of being the "official forum" was and have no idea what the motivations were to stop that arrangement.

Why you would try to make one site an official forum is beyond me. People will post where they please regardless of text on a page saying it's the forum[/i] or not. Example: Battle.net. Sure if you want a Blizzard employee to respond you'd do well to post there but that would be the exception.

really really really really like these tournament portals. I have a crazy work schedule so it's great to be able to be able to just pull up the mlg portal and check out what matches were played, the results, etc quickly. they're also well organized (unlike the mlg site lol) p.s. link works fine stop harassing the wonderful and hard-working person that is hot bid
