Hi Melbourne people,
I've decided to give thereisnosaurus a well-deserved break from hosting viewing parties and incurring the expenses associated with them. As such, I'm hosting the March GSL finals party. It'll be ending a bit earlier than normal as I'm moving house the next day, but should still be a good time for all. Help me leave this apartment with some good memories as opposed to the crap I've had to put up with there over the last few months courtesy of my housemates!
Date: March 19
Time: 4 - 11 PM or midnight Australian Eastern Time (Games start at 5)
Location: Specifics to be PMed to attendees, but it's at my apartment in Hawthorn East.
Food arrangements: We'll be ordering pizza. If you want to eat any, bring $10 to chip in to our pizza ordering pool. Some non-alcoholic beverage will be provided, if you want to drink alcoholic stuff, bring some for yourself and to share with me. For rela.
If people can bring over Super Street Fighter 4 for the 360 and a controller that would be a good add. We'll probably be playing that rather than SC2 or watching good players smurf because of the setup of my living room.
Space and seating is somewhat limited, so we're probably going to cap the attendees for this at about 15.

omg....
flashback to BeSt vs july osl finals a few years back when everyone was claiming a one-sided BeSt fest and july basically put 3 hat spire 5 hat hydra on the map as THE zvp build and crushed him in game 3 (after psychologically destroying him games 1 and 2)? Maybe july will reveal the zerg way to beat protoss in this finals too!

The craziest and most awesome thing about the BeSt vs July OSL final was the psychological thrashing July gave him in the first 2 games. It should be exciting just to see him in a final again, and he's definitely credible competition even if he is (in my view anyway) a slight underdog.

I doubt it will be 4-0 July will get atleast one game and i rekon he has the ability to beat him. zvp is july's best matchup

Should be interesting. These broodwar pros, if given the opportunity to prepare, know how to perfect builds for one single matchup. Protoss builds don't have the capability for subtlety that zerg does right now, and July will be used to this sort of situation. I'm pumped, I think this will be the best finals so far even if the end result feels one sided, it will be because crazy shit happened.

Other GSL parties are setting up donation pots for relief efforts in Japan, and I thought it'd be good to add one to ours.

We're ordering pizza. It's lazier than we normally do, but I'm not keen on a big cook-up the night before I'm moving out of this apartment.
BTW: People coming from the Western Suburbs, nickynack is driving and has room in his car, PM him to arrange transport if needed!
Normally I wouldn't mind all-nighting for TSL but these are some exceptional circumstances so people will need to GTFO by midnight or so.

I'll totally come if there's room, been wanting to meet up with SC2 players around Melbourne. Might be able to bring a PS3 with equipped SSF4/soul calibur4/tekken6 and controllers if the xbox doesn't pan out.
Also might bring my laptop, which is only really good for SC1 if anyone else wants to get nostalgic. Got a wireless router?

Pachi's is an xbox 360 only stick (and is awesome) so it will definitely work. Mixed console sticks can be kind of shaky as weve seen in the past.
Either that or nack can bring the ps3 and ill bring my ps3 fightstick.
fightsticks are srs bzns.

I'm more used to the controller, but that's just because I haven't got an arcade pedigree with that game. Just a matter of getting used to it, I guess.
Edit: Maybe one of you pro players can show me how to play Cammy properly.

Saurus: I'm not sure where we'd be able to set up a second TV offhand, but we could probably enlist slugga to haul it in his car once we figure that out.
pachi: I've been trying to shift to a more Cannon Strike based offense, glad I'm on the right track.

unless they're specifically dual modded to work for 360, you can't use PS3 controllers on it. 360 uses fancy signed PCBs so you usually have to rip open a controller for the pcb to make a stick for xbox.

Just realised my friends birthday party is on today T_T. I've decided to show up but Ill only be able to stay till around 8 ish. Really sorry about this.
I have a PS3 stick but Ill see if I can borrow the 360 stick off my friend. I don't think it will be a problem.

Hopefully that'll get you through the games. BTW, are you still helping me move boxes over to the new place tomorrow (could be later in the day, seeing as you'll probably get wasted.) Drawback is that that whole venture may now include an IKEA run.
